Where You Will Work
Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you’ll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. In-person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements.

DescriptionThis position will lead a team responsible for end-to-end logistics management of selected inbound and outbound commodities including, but not limited to FTL and LTL truck, rail, ocean, air, and parcel as well as certain services such as warehousing, freight forwarding, and customs brokerage. The position will be responsible for operational execution, contract negotiation, contract management, cost and performance reporting and improvement, supplier relationship management, and internal customer satisfaction for assigned commodities.
Lead a staff responsible for sourcing, contracting and operational execution of selected transportation commodities, modes and servicesManage execution of transportation operations for assigned commodities to meet tactical and strategic objectivesRecommend and implement short-term and long-term strategies for the truck, rail and ocean logistics and warehousing of various commodities to and from North American SitesLead contract negotiations with suppliers, resolve carrier disputes, and oversee the contract administration of truck, rail, and ocean carriers contracts including spot rates, fuel surcharges, and demurrageDevelop and maintain a thorough understanding of the North American trucking markets (OTR, hazmat, van, flatbed and LTL) railroad markets (Class 1 and regional short line railroads), rail car leasing, ocean freight, bulk terminaling, distribution networks and trans loadingIdentify opportunities to improve transportation customer service by implementing and monitoring applicable metrics and KPI’s, as well as efficiently planning storage capacity, rail car or trucking capacity, or trans load capacityManage cross functional relationships with truck and rail suppliers, as well as internal customers including various sales groups, Commodity Managers, Safety, Accounts Payable, FCX mine sites, and warehousesPerform other duties as requestedQualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of experience in Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related field; ORMaster's degree and four (4) years of experience in Supply Chain transportation, Transportation, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related fieldKnowledge of transportation management strategies and concepts for procurement of transportation equipment and servicesKnowledge of governmental and environmental policies and regulations related to transportation and supply chainAbility to work with limited supervision and significant latitude to set objectives, priorities, and timelines that may impact a group or functional area within the companyDemonstrated ability to lead and prioritize multiple projects and drive results independently and as part of a teamMust be able to work well under pressure in a fast paced environmentSkill in the use of computer databases to research, maintain and update records and filesProficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and OutlookStrong computer skills, particularly with large complex linked spreadsheets and databasesIntermediate knowledge of PowerPoint, Access, eProcurement, Sourcing and ERP systemsAbility to manage complex issues and implement solutions through the determination of strategy and delegation to othersSkill in effective communication, both verbal and written, with the ability to present material in a group setting and to senior leadershipStrong interpersonal capability and ability to work cross functionally and across divisionsAbility to work with general office equipment such as a personal computer and keyboard, facsimile machines and photocopierStrong negotiating skills that can be utilized on difficult projects as well as the ability to provide coaching to the team in negotiating strategiesPreferred
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related field and six (6) years of experience in Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related field; ORMaster's degree and four (4) years of experience in Supply Chain transportation, Transportation, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related field; ORFive (5) years of Transportation or Logistics experience, or similar background with specific emphasis on truck and rail transportationSolid understanding of Incoterms, international shipping requirements and US Customs clearance processExperience with DOT rules and regulationsExperience negotiating commercial terms including domestic and international transportation (Import/Export)Experience in the planning development, coordination, support, and execution of high impact (immediate and long term) improvement plansExperience in developing metrics and KPI's to manage logistics operations and transportation suppliersExperience leading various projects and teamsStrong leadership and communication skills with both internal and external customersStrong organizational, coordination and project management skillsAbility to travel 20% or moreExperience in the mining industryWhat We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $93,000-$130,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
