How will you make an impact in this role?
The Business Unit Financial Planning & Analysis team (BU FP&A) in Corporate Planning & Analysis plays a critical role in providing centralized financial planning and analysis activities across American Express. The team has responsibility for the Monthly Close Process, Results Analysis, and Planning & Forecasting for key P&L lines and metrics.
The FP&A Transformation team within BU FP&A and is responsible for setting the digital transformation agenda for Planning and Financial Results analysis. The team leverages and transforms AXP’s data assets to develop deeper insights and improve process efficiency to inform business decisions.
The manager will drive end-to-end projects that modernize our management reporting infrastructure.
The successful candidate must build strong working relationships across Finance, bring a strategic and analytical mindset, and communicate effectively with senior leaders.
Responsibilities:
Lead Annual Plan, Long range planning, & Monthly forecasting for Card Fees across issuer business units. Drive detailed insights on Card Fees and other P&L lines, including variance analysis, trend analysis and key messages, catering to diverse customer needs across the Enterprise. Partner closely with LFO and BUFP&A teams to understand key P/L drivers and incorporate business trends and decisions into forecasting capabilities and analysis. Partner on ad-hoc analytical projects leveraging customer insights, FODL, TM1, Oracle, & other data sources to inform and steer business decisions. Provide consolidation, reporting and monthly close support for segment results partnering with diverse segment stakeholders and staff groups. Support creation of Senior Leadership presentations focusing on key drivers of financial results, latest outlooks, and long-range plans. Partner with Finance Transformation team to implement and test new finance systems and processes and drive adoption. Build new Finance tools for planning and forecasting.Preferred Qualifications
Digital transformation mindset and understanding of AXP data assets, financial applications, and forecasting capabilities. Strong understanding and working knowledge of TM1 is required. Strong grasp of card economics Previous experience building and managing forecasting capabilities, processes, and tools leveraging big data and TM1 Knowledge of and experience with customer profitability data and metrics Strong relationship management skills with an ability to deliver in a cross-functional environment Strong control management mindset Ability to clearly explain and summarize financial results, key drivers of performance, and financial processes to audiences spanning from Senior Leadership and below Ability to synthesize and explain complex financial data Previous experience with P&L management Experience with SQL and managing big-data models Strong communication skills both written and verbal Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines with an ability to troubleshoot problems quicklySalary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
