Manager Finance Department - Fulltime - Days - Detroit

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Provides financial leadership for high tertiary/quaternary areas within Henry Ford Health. In collaboration with Transplant Institute leadership, leads all financial and business functions within the Transplant Institute to support margin growth. Assists in the development of contract strategy and work directly with payors to lead negotiation of contractual provisions and rates on behalf of Henry Ford Health. Manages and oversees financial related activities including but not limited to financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, expense management, financial analysis, business plans and other financial information to support operations and strategic planning. Develops and supports growth plans for the Heart & Vascular Institute at Henry Ford Hospital Detroit. Reports directly to the Director of Finance, Henry Ford Hospital Detroit. Secondary reporting relationship (dotted line) to the Vice President of the Transplant Institute and the Vice President of the Heart & Vascular Service Line in addition to the Director of Contracting and the Vice President of Contracting, Reimbursement, and Revenue Integrity. 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Provides financial leadership and operational support relative to the implementation of tertiary/quaternary business opportunities, challenges, and risks, including financial analysis, critical review of programs and services and relevant capital expenditures. Develops and monitors business plans to determine financial viability and to ensure that financial resources are optimized, and short and long-term goals are achieved. Collaborates and partners with Transplant Institute and service line leaders on strategic plans to help achieve financial performance goals. Oversees external vendor payments and expense management reporting for Transplant to help monitor expenditures against budget while working with operational leaders to identify expense savings opportunities. Evaluates and analyzes contract/single case agreement (SCA) proposals including completing initial proposal responses and reviewing/revising contract language and operational requirements. Reviews contracts/SCAs with both the Director of Contracting and Vice President of Transplant, in-house legal-council, and works through contract revisions with payors. Assists in developing transplant contracting guidelines and take lead role in negotiating payment contract models and other complex payor relationships. Routinely monitors current contracts for appropriate rate structure, contract terms and annual renewals and/or re-negotiations and compliance with industry standards and guidelines including monitoring marketplace for new transplant contracting opportunities. Maintains comprehensive files of contractual relationships and works with Managed Care Contracting to maintain contract information in the contract management database.Acts as liaison between Henry Ford Health and payors and facilitate resolution of transplant contracting and operational issues, i.e., billing, utilization review, credentialing site visits, notification of site closures or new services. Assists in the development and revision of department policies and processes. Provides leadership and education in area(s) of expertise. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare or related field required. Five (5) years of related experience in the healthcare industry in a progressively more responsible professional capacity, with some experience / exposer to payor contracting, provider relations and/or provider reimbursement. Knowledge of managed care organizations and integrated health systems. Comprehensive project management abilities. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationship with both internal and external customers.Strong negotiation skills. Understanding of legal, business, and insurance operations principles. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.  Additional Information Organization: Henry Ford Hospital - Detroit Main Campus Department: HFH Finance Shift: Day Job Union Code: Not Applicable
