Manager Field Compliance & Monitoring 

 

The Manager Field Compliance and Monitoring (“Manager”) reports to the Director Compliance Monitoring and Investigations (“Director”) within the U.S. Office of Compliance (“USOC”). The Manager serves as subject matter expert with the responsibility for conducting Compliance field and data monitoring activities, assists with Compliance investigations, and facilitates and supports training efforts on Compliance and other business-related topics across all Bayer U.S. Divisions and Enabling Functions. In addition, the Manager serves as dedicated specialist for periodic data collections, analysis and analytics, drives digital risk modeling, and proposes remediation actions for identified compliance violations/observations. The Manager provides best in class business-partnering services and compliance guidance to minimize legal, financial, and reputational risk to the company, supports annual Compliance Risk Assessment and execute monitoring activities against the Compliance Monitoring Plan, and documents and maintains accurate records for all monitoring events and investigations. The Manager must have substantial knowledge in the life sciences arena and experience with the implementation of all applicable compliance related industry codes (e.g., PhRMA, AdvaMed, EFPIA) and regulations (e.g., FDA, EPA, and HHS-OIG), relevant compliance requirements including federal and state laws regulating government healthcare programs, as well as the business implications pertaining to the application of pertinent compliance laws including Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Food Drug & Cosmetic Act, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and other advertising and promotion statutes

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Manager Field Compliance & Monitoring, are to:

Serves as strategic business partner and trusted advisor on compliance-related matters across all divisions and enabling functions;Performs virtual and in-person field monitoring activities, e.g., Field Ride, Speaker Program, Advisory Board, industry convention/exhibit to ensure compliance with relevant laws, statutes, regulations, policies and procedures, guidelines, and industry codes;Completes related downstream paperwork for all field monitoring activities and maintains all records and documentation regarding monitoring events, investigations, and incidents observed or reported;Conducts periodic and ad hoc data analysis and document reviews and communicates/follows up on any potential compliance incidents, observations, and violations with employees and management;Uses critical thinking to assist in the development and implementation of new and innovative ways of working, e.g., dashboards, data visualization tools, big data analysis, artificial intelligence projects to track compliance incidents, observations and violations for metrics, reporting purposes, and overall support of the team’s digital transformation;Collaborates with U.S. Disclosure Management and Global Business Services to ensure accuracy and completeness for reporting of HCP/HCO transfers of values as required under relevant federal, state and local transparency and disclosure laws;Supports the Director with the development of the annual Compliance Risk Assessment and Monitoring Plan;Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of the Company’s business and operational goals, while staying informed on emerging industry, monitoring, and risk management trends;Manages multiple priorities and works independently by utilizing detailed planning, sound business analysis, and information systems support;Conducts and/or assists in the planning, preparation, and execution of compliance investigations including document review, data analysis, employee interviews, preparation of summaries/reports, and participating in Sanction Committee meetings;Assists with the identification and mitigation of issues arising as a result of monitoring and investigations to strengthen and enhance the effectiveness of Bayer’s Compliance Program and help embed compliancewithin Bayer’s businesses;Supports the implementation of corrective action plans, remediation initiatives, as well as training and education efforts to address compliance and business risks;

 

WHO YOU ARE                                        

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree (preferably in a finance, accounting, or medical/nursing;Experience in a healthcare or life sciences-related business;Strong data analytics and visualization skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Power BI, SAP/Concur, Relativity, VeevaCRM, and other internal systems, such as Crystal Reporting, ServiceNow, etc;Knowledge of regulatory, compliance requirements, including anti-kickback statue, False Claims Act, FCPA, Sunshine Act, and other regulations;Ability to build professional relationships with internal customers and partners;Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret laws and regulatory requirements, assess risks and make critical decisions, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team;Sound judgment and the ability to influence management and employees on Compliance and business issues often under critical time constraints;Ability to schedule and manage a high degree of travel (> 40%), including overnights and weekends for in-person monitoring activities, industry conventions/exhibits, investigations, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters or advanced degree or related certification preferred (e.g., JD, MBA, CIA, CFE, SCCE, Healthcare Law Compliance Certification);7 plus years of work experience in a healthcare or life sciences-related business

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $113,000 - $170,000 Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.  This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
