1.\tPurpose 

Responsible for planning of operational facilities and design on the basis of volume forecast and historical trends to ensure that adequate space is always available at facilities. Ensure that facilities are designed to meet operational KPI’s such as OTD, EDD by studying vehicle arrival and departure schedules, minimize man/material movement, reduce handling cost and prevent damages/accidents. Ensure that our workplaces are safe and promote health and wellbeing of our employees.

Educational Qualifications 

Industrial/Mechanical Engineer + MBA in Operations/Supply chain 

Work experience 

6 – 8 years

3.\tExperience/skill requirements 

Excellent knowledge and understanding of logistics, transportation, and supply chain operations. 

Estimation of space requirements keeping current and future volumes and process flow requirements. 

Experience in layout planning and facility design to improve throughput. 

Ability to identify bottlenecks in process design and provide alternative solutions for removing these bottlenecks.  

Ability to study and analyse data, build strong business cases with financial justification for consideration of top management.  

Strong knowledge of basic MS-office tools (Advanced Excel, word, power point) and good knowledge of design and Project Management tools. 

Strong analytical, presentation and communication skills 

Responsibilities 

Strategic 

Collaborate with different functions like sales, operations, finance and IT to get forecast for short and medium term and accordingly work with operations to build capacity needed to fulfill the demand. 

Conduct competitive research and analysis to benchmark our own infrastructure with competition, identify critical gaps and suggest ways to become best in the industry. 

Work with different stakeholders to gather data and prepare  business cases for new facilities. 

Work with stakeholders to design facilities to minimize operational costs and improve throughput by designing efficient workflows, reduce damages/accidents and ensuring safety of people. 

Financial 

Estimate the Capital requirements for financial year and get them incorporated in Annual Operating Plans. 

Coordinate with India/DHL teams to get BCA approved by resolving their queries. 

Operational 

Perform regular infrastructure audits across all critical locations.  

Perform peak planning exercise to ensure that no facility faces space shortage due to load spike. 

Perform quarterly study to evaluate that which of the facilities are reaching threshold levels of space utilization and accordingly propose facility relocation, bifurcation or closure. 

People 

Lead and develop a team of engineers to achieve business and functional goals as laid down by management. 

Provide mentorship and guidance to Engineers for their long term development. 

Utilises all available sources to keep abreast of new / changing technologies & methodologies in the market place related to own area of responsibility and remain current with potential changes in the business that could potentially impact Blue Dart’s market leadership position. Actively shares learning with your team and peers.
