As the Manager External Reporting, you will be responsible for the preparation, coordination and review of reports to stockholders, the Securities and Exchange Commission and other governmental agencies. Research, interpretation and implementation of accounting/reporting rules and regulations proposed and issued by regulatory bodies, i.e., FASB, SEC, PCAOB, AICPA, FTC, DOC, etc.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Annual and quarterly reports to Stockholders, Quarterly Earnings Press Release, Investor Presentations and CEO Earnings Call Slides. Supervise the composition of financial information contained in quarterly and annual releases. Reports to Securities and Exchange Commission: 10-K, 10-Qs and any other reports as vital (e.g., 8-Ks, registration statements, etc.). Supervise the composing of financial statements, footnotes, Management’s Discussion and Analysis and five-year summary. Supervise all reports required by the New York Stock Exchange, NYSE Texas, Department of Commerce, etc. Review and analyze financial data provided by Business Units and other Enterprise departments (accounting, treasury, tax, etc.). Supervise the preparation and maintenance of workpapers supporting amounts and disclosures and the filing of these documents via the EDGAR system, including review of XBRL prepared by 3rd party provider. Review all external reports for compliance. Manage the global consolidation of the company’s pension plans worldwide and the relationship with the actuarial firm. Supervise and review government reporting as required by the Census Bureau Support various SEC employee benefit plan filings on Form 11-K. Review financial sections included in filings with other U.S. and foreign regulatory bodies (e.g., commercial paper memorandum, debt offering circulars, etc.). Research of accounting theory and rules as specialized accounting problems arise. Review of external reporting practices of other large companies and peers for possible application to Emerson. Assist with special projects, such as SEC filings related to acquisitions, divestitures and new debt issuance; operational and business process improvements, including standardization and process optimization. Manage the restatement of prior years’ financial data for discontinued operations, changes to segments, and other situations for internal reporting, inclusion in SEC filings, and reports to other governmental agencies. Supervise the maintaining and updating of NAICS data for use in premerger notification filings with the Federal Trade Commission Who You Are:You readily action new challenges, without unnecessary planning. For This Role, You Will Need: Undergraduate degree in Accounting required. At least five years accounting experience with at least three years of public accounting experience, preferable with a Big 4 public accounting firm. CPA Certificate required. Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this position. Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart: Familiarity with financial reporting practices and SEC accounting and reporting rules. Proficiency and/or experience with Hyperion, Workiva and XBRL.
