Position Overview:
The Insulet UX team is seeking a Manager of UX Technical Writing. This role is responsible for a team of talented Technical Writers who create product design documentation, write accessible UX copy (i.e. alt text), manage UX strings, and support new tool implementations. You’ll also help set the standards, guidelines and processes for the team. You’ll collaborate with key stakeholders like UX design, UX content strategists and other product / development stakeholders across Insulet.

Core Responsibilities:
Strategy and roadmap:
Define the overall UX documentation roadmap based on the key priorities for the business.
Drive the UX technical writing processes and strategy.
Technical writing excellence:
Mentor and review all content from Technical Writers on the team including our Graphical Requirements Specifications and other design documentation deliverables.
Responsible for advising on and supporting the team in their documentation submissions into Asset and Product Lifecyle Management systems (ALM, PLM).
Lead process and tool improvements and support evaluating future tools (i.e. new ALM and CMS system).
Support the technical writing team in writing appropriate accessibility annotations.
Manage all UX strings across all products in support of translation processes.
Collaborate effectively and frequently with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., QA, UX, Dev, PM), leading the revision process, and achieving deadlines.
Work closely with UX managers to identify impacts and coordinate content outputs for all products / platforms.
Oversees, distributes, and follows-up on Technical Writing section of the Writing Style Guide for UX.

Collaborate effectively and frequently with cross-functional stakeholders; articulating your decisions and why—ensuring our processes align with business needs.
Center of Excellence, education, and advocacy:
Mentor and guide the other Technical Writers in methods and processes to achieve success on their projects, by reviewing proposed content as applicable, and providing feedback for growth. Leading through others is a key aspect of this role.

Required Leadership/Interpersonal Skills & Behaviors:
Proven success in working with leadership-level stakeholders.
Extensive experience in creating and analyzing technical content.
Successfully managed teams of minimum 3 people.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
Understanding of UX design, as well as common design tools, language, and processes.
Understanding of structured component content management systems (CCMS) or an understanding of DITA.
Experience in working in quality systems like Arena or Polarian.
High level of competency in applied writing skills, especially writing for a lay user audience.
Eagerness and aptitude to learn new technologies quickly.
Excellent project management abilities and process development skills.
Comfort and familiarity with a dynamic agile software development environment.
Deep expertise in platforms and design tools such as Figma, JIRA, Miro.
Experience working both in Med Tech, in either B2B and B2C mobile-first environments or in Consumer products with large ecosystems.
Familiar with Medical Device development processes, familiarity with Diabetes.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a discipline related to Technical Writing (e.g. Business Communications, Creative Writing, English).
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in writing/editing technical content.
Minimum of 2 years direct management experience.
Additional Information:
Limited business travel is required. Must be able to perform job functions effectively while traveling.

This role is hybrid; required to be in the office 3x per week. Location is either commutable to San Diego, CA or Acton, MA office.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $140,925.00 - $211,387.50. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
