The User Experience Design manager leads a team of UX Designers at Open Text who have the responsibility to design, prototype and test software products that solve critical business needs of our customers. Through a sound understanding of the underlying architecture, product vision and requirements, we create compelling, usable user interfaces for complex enterprise software applications across desktop, web, and mobile platforms. We work as essential development team members in the engineering organization in a highly collaborative, agile environment to create industry leading Enterprise Information Management software solutions.

The opportunity

The selected candidate will be directly responsible for managing a team of UX Interaction Designers and collaborate with the larger global UX Design management team that also includes Visual Design and Usability/Research.

As a manager

Lead and manage a team of talented UX Designers. Coordinate among multiple designers supporting a suite of products, line of business or business unit. Maintain a cohesive user experience strategy for area of immediate responsibility and coordinate with other designers on cross-company UXD strategies. Mentor peers, stakeholders, and teammates on user-centered design principles and methodologies. Contribute to and help champion User Experience Design team initiatives, such as creation of design guidelines, process enhancements, toolkits, etc. Work within product development teams to guide and support day to day technical decision making that impacts the user experience.  Act as subject matter expert on the user experience capabilities, limitations, and tradeoffs presented by various platforms, technologies, and frameworks. Education and experience • Degree in HCI, Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Science, Interaction Design, Computer Science, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or related experience. Masters preferred. Minimum 2-3 years of people management experience and 8 plus years of strong UX design experience reflected through portfolio / work samples. Experience designing outstanding digital enterprise products in B2B environments.Strong working knowledge of common design tools such as the Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, XD), Axure RP, Figma, etc.Analytical capabilities in compiling and reviewing feedback and data culled from research and internal sources. Desired Independent worker with ability to align well with the product management and development teams. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to conceptualize complex systems. Demonstrated results-oriented work ethic and consistent record of meeting deadlines. Excellent listener, facilitator, communicator, and team player. Self-reliant, used to taking initiative, and great at follow-up. Creative, with solid understanding of UX design best practices / principles. Good organizational skills including the ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks. Knowledge of Accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG, etc.) a plus. Knowledge of Common Enterprise information Management Products (ECM, DAM, BPM, etc.) products would be an asset. High degree of comfort with complex technical environments.
