RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY:
• Plans, develops, implements, and manages functions, services, and activities of Trauma Services in collaboration with the Director, System Trauma Program and Medical Director, Trauma Services.
• Responsible for administering and coordinating The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC) trauma program and maintaining leadership posture of this service in the community.
• Administers and coordinates overall staff education regarding trauma care within the Medical Center.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Seeing. Hearing. Speaking. Finger dexterity.
B. MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING
• Infrequent: Lift floor to waist between 21-35 lbs. Lift waist to shoulder between 21-35 lbs. Lift waist to overhead between 21-35 lbs. Carry between 11-20 lbs.
• Occasional: Lift floor to waist between 11-20 lbs. Lift waist to shoulder between 6-10 lbs. Lift waist to overhead between 6-10 lbs. Carry between 6-10 lbs. Push and Pull between 11-20 lbs.
• Frequent: Lift floor to waist between 0-5 lbs. Lift waist to shoulder between 0-5 lbs. Lift waist to overhead between 0-5 lbs. Carry between 0-5 lbs. Push and Pull between 6-10 lbs.
• Constant: N/A
C. NON-MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING
• Infrequent: Crawl. Climb: Stairs/Ladder. Gripping.
• Occasional: Stoop/Bend. Kneel. Twist. Squat. Reach: above head.
• Frequent: Stand. Sit. Walk. Reach: shoulder level.
• Constant: N/A
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Subjected to alarms (electronic monitoring and bio-medical life support equipment).
• Must be available to take call and respond to major operational events.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS, TCRN, CCRN, or CEN certifications preferred.
C. EXPERIENCE:
• Four (4) years progressive experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care hospital with at least two (2) years experience in critical care or emergency nursing with an emphasis on trauma care.
• Two (2) years of supervisory/leadership experience, preferably in a Level I or II trauma center.
• Experience in trauma program development; experience to demonstrate proven administrative and teaching skills.
