Manager, Translational Genetics (Therapeutic Area Genetics)

We are seeking a Manager, Therapeutic Area Genetics, who can help develop and maintain applications and libraries to analyze and interpret millions of sequenced and deeply phenotyped human samples. To enable Regeneron to deliver better medicines to patients, we must empower our scientists to efficiently generate and interact with analysis results from massive human genetics experiments. You’ll work in a team that delivers high quality and flexible tools that help scientists perform large scale genomic analysis and explore and interpret their results. A proven track record of developing bioinformatics support software, libraries and/or applications is essential for this role.
**As a Manager Therapeutic Area Genetics, a typical day may include:**
+ Design and implement R libraries and web applications to fit the team’s translational research needs.
+ Modernize and optimize existing code bases to improve performance and create scalable, portable, unit tested code.
+ Interact with other developers in the team and work together on high-priority tasks.
+ Provide user support by answering questions, understanding specific use cases, fixing bugs, and writing documentation.
+ Communicate with, brainstorm new ideas with, and co-develop analysis strategies with a variety of colleagues with diverse backgrounds (scientists, clinicians, analysts, bioinformaticians).
+ Mine the 2M+ sequencing data to generate new biological hypotheses around cardiometabolic disease. Integrate different sources of data to come-up with new inferences.

+ Have a familiarity or strong interest in statistical genetics, human genetics, software development or computational genomics.
+ Can effectively communicate methods and present code to a variety of audiences.
+ Enjoy working in a highly interactive environment with a diverse team of colleagues.
**To be considered for this role, you must have:**
+ At least a Masters degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field with 6 years of relevant experience in Computational Biology or a related field. A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field is also encouraged.
+ Strong expertise in writing efficient R code using standard libraries such as data.table. R package development experience, or having worked on complex, multi-user R Shiny applications, is a plus.
+ Experience developing and deploying in a cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, GCP, DNAnexus) using CI/CD and software containerization (Docker).
+ Familiarity with standard bioinformatics tools (e.g. PLINK2, HTSlib, tabix) and data formats (e.g. VCF, BED, BGEN).
+ Experience working with the Linux/UNIX command line and SQL databases.

$126,700.00 - $206,900.00
