About the Role
The Manager, Trade Operations and Compliance (US) is responsible for all customs-related operations with import, export, and other trade/customs laws, rules, and regulations within the United States.
This role serves as the subject matter expert for US Trade Operations for our divisions and brands. Reporting to the Director of Global Trade Operations, there are two Trade Operations Specialists reporting directly into this role. Due to the ever-evolving international trade landscape, it will be part of a best-in-class international trade compliance program. You will also create, maintain, and train trade operations procedures and requirements to support the growth from an import/export compliance perspective.
What You Will Do
Ensure compliance with all import/export regulations in the US (Classification, Valuation, Country of Origin, ADD/CVD)
Responsible for all inquiries from US Customs and Border Protection CBP and other governmental regulatory agencies assigned the task of managing compliance risks.
Proficient with ERP systems; advanced Excel skills are a plus.
Lead and support a team of compliance specialists, providing guidance, training, and direction to ensure accurate compliance.
Build and maintain partnerships with trade and customs compliance service providers, act as key contact for import/export transactions, and document customs management processes, including SOPs, KPIs, and broker scorecard performance reviews.
Review and analyze ACE and other trade reports.
Monitor changes in trade regulations while maintaining/updating policies and procedures. Advise stakeholders on the impacts of regulatory trade compliance.
Responsible for requests from other governmental agencies (i.e., TSCA, FDA, EPA, others).
Oversee and maintain C-TPAT status for four HARMAN sites.
Develop metrics for internal processes and external service providers to create efficiencies and improve performance.
Collaborate with procurement, logistics, supply chain and business units on trade matters and work across department to proactively avoid trade-related delays.
Explore cost-saving opportunities, process efficiencies and risk mitigation strategies and integrate ‘best practices’ standards for the organization.
What You Need to Be Successful
5+ years of Leadership and International Trade experience, focusing primarily on US imports in a manufacturing environment.
A four-year degree in a related field is strongly preferred though not a strict requirement for this position.
Paramount are superior communication skills; a deep understanding of the business, business needs and a capacity to analyze data and act on insights with the ability to work up, down and across the company.
Experience leveraging technology and implementing principles / methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess trade risks and implement compliance solutions.
Successful track record managing team members, in direct- or indirect-reporting structure, in daily trade operations and compliance.
Ability to communicate trade compliance requirements to non-trade compliance persons.
Stature, gravitas, and confidence to earn the credibility and respect of your colleagues, global internal stakeholders, and business partners.
Ability to move quickly in response to external or internal circumstances. Receptiveness to change, willingness to review courses of action regularly, and a flexible mindset.
Bonus Points if You Have
Customs broker license and other import-related certifications is strongly preferred.
Export certifications and/or other formal training is strongly preferred.
Proficient with ERP systems; advanced Excel skills are a plus.

Salary Ranges:
