Manager, Technical Accounting (IDS)

Join our dynamic Corporate Finance team, where you'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with US GAAP, particularly ASC 350-40 (Internal-Use Software). We're looking for a detail-oriented professional with strong technical accounting skills, leadership potential, and a collaborative mindset.  This role is based in our Jersey City, NJ global headquarters where we have a flexible hybrid work model.

Requirements:

5-8 years of accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional audit firm experience strongly preferred) in applying USGAAPStrong understanding of USGAAP rules requiredEffective documentation, teamwork and communication skills are requiredProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)Oracle Fusion experience is a plusExperience in supervising employees a plus but not required Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teamsStrong attention to detail, ability to self-review, and sense of ownershipExcellent organizational and planning skills; set goals, establish priorities, utilize available resources and plan work to meet deadlines and commitments

 

Skills/Education:

BS degree in accounting requiredStrong working knowledge of USGAAPCPA is a plus but not required

Ensuring that Verisk’s accounting policies are being followed in accordance with USGAAP ASC 350-40 (Accounting for Internal-Use Software) as well as completing documentation of related corporate accounting memos and other relevant documentation. Lead the evaluation and implementation of complex accounting standards, particularly ASC 350-40 (Accounting for Internal-Use Software) and other relevant US GAAP guidance.Manage accounting processes related to capital projects using Oracle Projects Module, ensuring accuracy in project setup, cost tracking, and capitalization in addition to driving enhancements in project accounting workflows within Oracle.Review compliance with internal controls and external audit requirements, including SOX documentation and walkthroughs.Mentor and develop staff within the accounting function; provide technical training and support in relevant areas.Provide subject matter expertise on the accounting treatment of internally developed software, including capitalization, impairment, and amortization to stakeholders.Partner with Product, IT, FP&A, and Engineering teams to understand the nature and progress of technology initiatives to properly assess capital vs. expense treatment and compliance with capitalization policies.Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan.                                                           Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.                                                 Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
