The Manager, Strategy and Transformation Consulting will lead high-impact projects focused on organizational, operational, and strategic transformation for utility clients. This role blends industry experience with strong consulting skills to help clients navigate challenges such as the energy transition, grid modernization, and enterprise performance improvement. The Manager will oversee project delivery, guide multidisciplinary teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders. This role will also include managerial direction and leadership of resources in the Business Strategy and Transformation practice. Other responsibilities include coordinating training, resources management, supporting quality reviews, and promoting the 1898 Co. and Burns McDonnell culture, values, and mission. This client-facing leadership role has opportunities to shape strategy, drive change, and deliver measurable outcomes.
Client Delivery
Lead end-to-end delivery of strategy and transformation consulting engagements for utility clients.Structure and manage project workstreams across organizational, operational, and technology domains.Serve as a primary point of contact for client sponsors, ensuring alignment, transparency, and satisfaction.Provide expert-level technical guidance and support.Business DevelopmentCollaborate with business development managers, managing directors, business line leads, project managers, and proposal production staff on proposals to secure work for staff.Collaborate with account leaders to position services in response to emerging industry trends.Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders to drive follow-on and recurring work.Represent 1898 Co. at industry conferences, networking events, and thought leadership forums.People Practice Development
Collaborate with cross-functional practices (e.g., Utility Consulting, Digital, and Cybersecurity) to drive integrated solution delivery.Implement, apply, and support company, global practice and/or regional office programs and initiatives; successfully navigating and managing change within the section.Coordinate the team's workload and communicate the status of workload, billable time, and need for additional workload or staffing to managing directors and business line leads or regional management and applicable project managers.Provide leadership, guidance, instruction, and monthly one-on-one meetings to direct reports.Responsible for staff recruitment, development, training, and retention.Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff.Responsible for interpreting the organization's policies, purposes, and goals to staff.Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.Enforce compliance with company and client safety policies.Responsible for diversity initiatives.Performs other duties as assignedComplies with all policies and standards
