What Strategic Sourcing, National Brands (Medical and Surgical Sourcing) contributes to Cardinal Health
Although the Metro Medical business has historically focused on the dialysis space, this role will be on the forefront of Cardinal Health’s expansion into other therapeutic areas including Oncology, Urology, and Gastroenterology through close partnership with the Sales organization to bring the right portfolio to these markets.
This role will work closely with the Director to develop and maintain the processes that support Metro Medical's medical / surgical portfolio by maximizing fees through margin discipline and value creation in the market. The Manager, Strategic Sourcing (Direct Procurement) will lead the annual contract renewal process, collaborate with finance and the Metro Medical team to create supplier-level financials, create customized contract management dashboard and repository, and collaborate across teams to provide analytical, contracting and negotiation support for the portfolio. The Manager, Strategic Sourcing (Direct Procurement) will be responsible for distribution agreement negotiations, supplier strategy, profitability, and performance to budget. This role will partner with manufacturers to collect feedback on gap services and market solutions and suite of services, in addition to highlighting market share data to continually showcase Metro Medical as a market leader.
Location - Targeting candidates nationwide (fully remote), though our ideal preference would be finding someone local to Central Ohio willing to work in a hybrid capacity (a plus but not required).
Responsibilities
Lead Distribution Service Agreement (DSA) and Private Label negotiations with Metro Medical and Cardinal Health Specialty Distribution Services (SPD) medical and surgical suppliersStrategize for and develop negotiation plans; review contract terms and conditions to maximize buy-side income and manage risk Develop and execute risk management strategies across product portfolio to assure supply and meet buy-side income targetsManage to buy-side income targets for assigned manufacturers and work to negotiate favorable buy-side margin based on financial analysisManage portfolio of Private Label Metro Pacifica products for use in dialysis markets and other markets as identifiedIdentify opportunities for operational and inventory improvements through sourcing strategy and align with operations, purchasing, and sales organizationsBuild and maintain relationships with manufacturers Partner with the Sales organization and the Medical segment to offer Cardinal Brand products to our customers where it makes sense in the portfolio.Work with Global Sourcing teams to leverage and incorporate best practices into negotiations Leverage breadth of Cardinal Health services to create upstream value for manufacturers Work closely with Finance teams to ensure buy income is received and open disputes are resolved Utilize business and market data for defined categories to identify strategic opportunities with manufacturers
