Manager, Sourcing Development
ABOUT YOUR ROLE: As a Manager, Sourcing Development, you will lead a team of sourcing developers to ensure sustainable and effective vendor relationships. You will work closely with vendor partners to ensure that products are created and delivered in alignment with both product and sustainability brand strategies. You will support the sourcing strategy initiatives developed with your partners in the strategic team and play a key role in recommending solutions for gaps in the vendor base or opportunities to drive more innovative product solutions. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: (but not limited to) + Leading your team to monitor and report on the development calendar cycle, ensuring key deadlines are met for prototype and sample development. + Guiding the team to create work plans that support development calendar timelines and escalating issues where blockages may occur. + Evaluating vendors to ensure the right product is placed with the vendor with the appropriate capability. + Enhancing and advocating for vendors’ capabilities, aligning the use of new technologies to drive innovation in process and product. + Managing vendor partnerships to ensure they meet agreed performance targets. + Providing data analysis to support vendor management and KPI processes as agreed with the hub. + Collaborating with all ‘in country’ internal stakeholders across production, Global Material Supply, Compliance, Responsible Sourcing, Product Stewardship, Logistics, and Quality teams to ensure alignment on KPIs and achieving set goals. + Supporting all associates in the team to create and drive their individual development plans, and developing a regular cadence of review. + Challenging the status quo by adopting a creative and curious style that drives continuous improvement. + Participating in company-wide initiatives to promote VF purpose activation and improve VF Asia Product Supply systems and processes. + Fostering and role modeling a culture of inclusion, candor, and trust. + Championing company culture by promoting VF's values and ensuring a positive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment. WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU: + Extensive knowledge of apparel with a passion for product. + Proven experience in the development of knitted and woven apparel and in managing a diverse product collection. + Strong leadership experience in managing multi-cultural teams and the ability to influence stakeholders. + Understanding of product creation and exposure to digital product creation platforms will be an advantage. + Drive and passion to make a difference, presenting a growth mindset that role models positivity and curiosity to your team and peers. + Executive presence – confidence to speak up and express your views with authenticity and supporting data to gain consensus. + Advocacy for change initiated by leaders, role modeling, and assisting team members to embed necessary changes. + Understanding of factory compliance and the S&R (Social & Environmental Responsibility) framework to ensure ethical and sustainable practices are upheld. EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE: + Academic Degree in Textile or a related field preferred, or equivalent years of experience in the textile and apparel/footwear industry. + 8-10 years of industry experience. + Minimum supervisory experience of 3-5 years. + Good communication skills in English; proficiency in the local language will be an advantage. + Exposure to digital platforms for developing products and driving process efficiency will be a significant advantage.
