Job Summary:

For this role, it is critical to explore and understand the Fraud Risk management for PayPal and come up with solutions which may span across components/platforms. This role will require building synergy within Engineering, Product and Data Science teams in Risk as a Service domain and with the other partnering teams to deliver outcomes of our roadmap.

Essential Responsibilities:

Directly manages software development projects (including program management) and execution through individual contributors. May also lead project teams across platforms or groupsImplements processes to drive strong operational hygiene for all components and systems within their groupResponsible for the delivery of projects, including quality and timeliness, that impact their domain and potentially one otherDemonstrates strong tactical ability by managing the roadmap for a scrum team responsible for technical issues of diverse scope where analysis requires an understanding of current business or tendsCompetent at communicating technical issues with non-technical audiencesAnalyzes multiple sources of information and identifies & resolves complex technical, operational, and organizational problems relating to software development.Collaborates with direct team, managers in org, stakeholders such as Product Owners & PMO

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualification:

A customer and employee focused, hands-on Engineering Manager, responsible for managing a team of engineers who will be designing, implementing and delivering state of the art Fraud-Risk management solutions for PayPal. The ideal candidate for the role will be a combination of
a) a “seasoned technologist” with strong experience in building large-scale distributed transaction processing systems and solving complex problems.

Your way to impact:

This Engineering Manager role will influence key merchant experiences and our commitment to enabling them to identify and mitigate transaction fraud. The person is a highly motivated, versatile, technically hands-on Engineering Manager responsible for leading a team of skilled engineers, helping with design, implementation and delivery of state-of-the-art systems which operate at PayPal scale. The ideal candidate is an individual with deep experience in building microservices and robust distributed systems.

Business acumen, hands-on technology skills, a positive work ethic and a collaborative mindset are key to the success of this role.

What you need to bring:

The prospective candidate will be working with various cross functional groups (business, product, analytics, user experience design and engineering) and will require admirable articulation, negotiation and influencing skills given the level of visibility. The person is also expected to manage a team of engineers and other engineering managers and constantly groom them into strong professionals. Experience or Awareness of the payments industry is a big plus.

Your day-to-day:

Exhibit leadership and management skills to design, develop and deliver high impact initiatives for emerging markets.

Responsible for end-end development life cycle of features in our product.

Manage the daily activities of the engineering team working on the Agile scrum model.

Demonstrate a high degree of people-focus and be a team player who can collaborate effectively across various teams within PayPal with integrity and commitment.

Be highly customer centric with a bias towards delivering customer delight through our suite of products and features.

Act as a bridge between product and technology teams and marry business needs with technology solves.

Demonstrate Team and Stakeholder management skills towards meeting project timelines and delivery commitments.

Work closely with our integration teams and merchant partners to arrive at best-in-class experiences for our merchants.

Actively work towards developing products that meet high standards of convenience, security, performance and reliability for our merchants.

Work closely with the solutions architect, engineering leaders and the engineering team to deliver solutions for merchants.

Have strong business and technical vision and the ability to communicate this vision to multiple audiences. Sense evolving business trends and translate them into needs into technology solves.

Represent the company in external industry and academic forums

Proficient in Java and Spring Framework and deep understanding of applying advanced object-oriented design and development principles

Working experience with databases such as MYSQL/ Oracle.

Experience in developing applications using NoSQL Databases (BigQuery, Cassandra, DynamoDB etc.) and Messaging technologies (Kafka, Rabbit MQ etc.)
