At OpenText, a Manager, Software Engineering role is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to create meaningful impact. In this role, you will build and lead a high-impact team managing innovative OSM solutions that drive real-world change, from sustainable supply chains to enhanced medical access and critical infrastructure support. You will engage in solving meaningful challenges in an agile environment, gaining exposure to advanced technologies beyond individual access. You will be encouraged to cultivate an engineering mindset, driving the creation of innovative software solutions that address real-world problems and shape the future. You will be responsible for building and growing a top-tier team in Canada, complementing our R&D centers in Europe and India. Your team will be highly proficient in OSM technologies and will actively engage with key customers through our Cloud support teams or direct collaboration, both On and Off the Cloud. This role and team hold significant visibility within the organization and will play a crucial part in ensuring the success of our products across North America and globally.

 

 

What the role offers:

 

As a Manager, Software Engineering, you will:

 

Lead multiple lean teams of experts including an architect, direct senior developers as well as another manager and team of developers.Guide and drive a team of developers to become the NA spearhead of our R&D organization while collaborating daily with our other Center of Excellent around the world, you won’t be alone!Work in an Agile environment (SAFE) with processes covered by and simplified by OT toolset such as ValueEdge, but also using the very IT product we’re delivering internally!Directly interact with key accounts representatives to facilitate new projects, opportunities or critical situations support our Field teams when necessary.Maintain healthy partnerships with stakeholders and cross-functional teams, fostering inclusivity and clear communication through platforms like Microsoft Teams.Establish goals aligned with business objectives, set clear expectations for success, and use performance metrics and KPIs to monitor progress and address issues promptly.Identify and resolve misalignments with peer and dependent teams, utilizing risk mitigation strategies and maintaining an influential managerial presence to guide teams effectively.

 

 

What you need to Succeed:

 

Extensive managerial experience leading multiple scrum teams, with second-level management experience being a plus.Strong background in development (C++/Java) and proficiency in CI/CD tools like GitLab, Jenkins, and Kubernetes.Expertise in SaaS deployment, operations, and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, SaaS, PaaS).Strong communication, presentation, and customer-facing skillsAbility to navigate and understand different levels of abstractions from low level technical discussion to domain knowledge and strategic or organizational challenges depending on the context and audience!Demonstrate composure, organizational skills, and strong leadership abilities in high-pressure situations.Possess a sense of humor and adaptability, bringing a unique and light-hearted approach to challenges.  ITIL certification or/and ITOM domain knowledge is a plusHands-on experience would be considered a credit
