We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager with a strong technical foundation and a proven track record of leading high-performing engineering teams. This role requires a deep understanding of Agile development, modern backend and frontend technologies, and the ability to navigate complex financial and VAT-related domains. The ideal candidate will be both a strong technical contributor and a strategic leader, capable of driving product delivery while maintaining a focus on code quality, scalability, and team growth.

Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results

Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance cultureManage software development projects using Agile methodologies, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomesOversee system architecture, code reviews, and technical design decisions across multiple services and applicationsGuide development efforts in PHP and Laravel, with hands-on technical leadership as neededHelp design, maintain, and optimize relational databases, with a focus on MySQL and PostgreSQLCollaborate with a global product and design team to define technical requirements and translate them into scalable solutionsHelp implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, and provide basic system administration and DevOps supportTroubleshoot complex system issues and lead the resolution of critical production problemsSupport internal and external clients and stakeholdersApply strong attention to detail and analytical thinking to understand and build solutions in complex financial or VAT-related domains

Education and Experience:

10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership or management roleDeep knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience leading Agile teamsProficiency in PHP and Laravel, with a strong foundation in end-to-end application developmentExpertise in MySQL and PostgreSQL, including query optimization and database designExperience with CI/CD, basic system administration, and DevOps practicesStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly grasp complex business and technical domainsMeticulous attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Angular or other modern front-end frameworksBackground in financial services, VAT, or regulatory technology domainsFamiliarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)Experience working in environments with strict security or compliance requirementsExperience developing architectures for scalable systems
