Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Should Costing Manager to be part of an innovative and forward-thinking team that values creativity, inclusivity, and professional growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost analysis methodologies, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will focus on developing accurate cost models and identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product quality and performance.
 

Key ResponsibilitiesApply sophisticated cost methodologies, software models, and tools to accurately prepare and maintain data, ensuring precision and reliable cost modelsConstruct comprehensive should-cost models for entire products and components, ensuring accuracy and thorough analysisConduct thorough cost analyses of existing products and manufacturing processes to identify cost-saving opportunitiesCollect and analyze data related to manufacturing costs, yields, and efficiencyCollaborate with Design Engineering teams to promote and integrate a design-to-cost approach using comprehensive statistical dataPartner with procurement and category teams to analyze cost breakdowns from vendors, performing detailed gap analysis between costing and quotesWork closely with suppliers to understand their processes and find opportunities for cost reductions through alternative materials, processes, or technologiesFacilitate brainstorming sessions and workshops to generate innovative cost-saving opportunitiesEvaluate and select suppliers based on factors such as cost, quality, and reliability, ensuring optimal choices for the companyAdvise and assist suppliers with alternative manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costsConduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure they meet cost, quality, and delivery requirementsDevelop and implement clear standard work procedures for performing and validating should-cost analysesLead continuous improvement initiatives in cost estimation methodologies and processes, driving innovation and efficiencyApply lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement tools to drive process optimizationLead VA/VE initiatives to assess product functions and identify cost-effective alternatives without compromising qualityProvide training and mentorship to junior engineers and team members on cost analysis methodologies and standard processesPrepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting cost reduction achievements and opportunitiesNurture a culture of continuous improvement and cost consciousness within the organization
 Skills and Competencies:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or Mechatronics EngineeringProven experience in manufacturing engineering, with strong focus on Should Cost Analysis and cost reductionValidated expertise in performing cost analysis for a range of mechanical commodities including machining, sheet metal, casting, forging, composites, plastics, rubber, metal injection molding, surface treatments, and packagingIn-depth knowledge of surface treatments, coatings, and surface finish methodsStrong proficiency in various drawing standards such as ANSI, ISO, ASME, DIN, JIS, and BSExpertise in using costing tools like Apriori, DFMA, Costimator, NPV, and TCOSkilled in handling CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, and AutoCADProficiency in cost analysis tools and methodologies such as VA/VE, lean manufacturing, and Six SigmaStrong project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyExcellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to address issues creatively and analyticallyStrong critical thinking skills with meticulous attention to detailProven track record in influencing multi-functional teams to drive decisionsExcellent communication and presentation skillsAccepts diversity & inclusion and conducts with the highest ethical standards
