Manager, Quality

Job Title: Quality Manager 

 

Job Summary  

Reporting to the Plant General Manager, the Quality Manager is responsible for the management of Quality/Laboratory activities, ensuring that products have been manufactured according to the specifications and seeking corrections/solutions. The Quality Manager also maintains third party registration to IATF:16949 or ISO9001. 

 

Responsibility 

Ensure full compliance with all local legislative mandates and Linamar’s global operational protocols, including: 

Global Operating System Plays 

OHSAS 18001 for Health and Safety 

ISO 14001 for Environmental Management 

TS 16949 for Quality Management 

Uphold and exemplify Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors. 

Maintain equilibrium among customer satisfaction, employee welfare, and financial goals by optimizing facility performance aligned with Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy. 

Support lean initiatives and uphold 5S standards within the department. 

Engage in Kaizen program and Lean Production System (LPS) requirements. 

Strategize, schedule, and oversee quality department activities to meet manufacturing needs. 

Set quality goals and champion the Quality Management System as the TS/ISO Management Representative. 

Develop manpower plans for departmental efficiency and employee empowerment through training and feedback mechanisms. 

Plan for long-term departmental, equipment, and personnel development. 

Ensure customer quality requirements are met and establish a supplier management system. 

Develop, implement, and enhance procedures for quality control and cost reduction initiatives. 

Maintain high-quality standards and prompt corrective actions for any quality issues. 

Foster effective communication with management, support staff, and production teams. 

Coordinate the creation of quality documentation for APQP, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Establish clear priorities and objectives. 

 

Academic/Educational Requirements 

High School Diploma or equivalent required.  

BS degree in administration, manufacturing, engineering, or equivalent education/work experience.


  Required Skills/Experience

Essential Skills: 

 

Reading 

Document Use 

Numeracy 

Requires: 

Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing and supervision. 

Collaborate with other facilities and managers to exchange information and troubleshoot. 

Conduct staff meetings to communicate quality objectives, policies, and address issues. 

Make decisions on improvement suggestions, respond to customer complaints, and manage staffing. 

 

Train and empower employees. 

Generate and interpret charts and metrics for management and customers. 

Complete necessary legal documentation and stay updated through meeting minutes. 

Monitor budgets, project finances, and strategize for cost reduction. 

Work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to process improvements and goal setting. 

Possess advanced knowledge of SPC tools, IATF:16949 quality management systems, and Core Tools. 

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and expense tracking. 

ASQ Certification preferred. 

Commit to ongoing professional development through seminars, conferences, and industry networking.
