Job Title: Operations Manager
Job Summary:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the Production department through the management and coordination of various manufacturing functions. This role requires expertise in overseeing facility performance, ensuring optimal delivery, cost management, quality, and service. The Operations Manager will develop procedures and policies to meet production schedules, product standards, and operational cost goals, while also addressing plant human resources matters, including labor relations. This role also involves providing leadership, mentoring, and guidance to drive productivity and maintain compliance with Linamar’s operational standards and company policies.
Responsibility
Lead the plant’s daily operations, ensuring that production meets targets for attainment, safety, quality, delivery and cost.
Lead, coach and develop direct reports to promote a high-performance culture and effective team collaboration.
Aggressively pursue OEE improvements by:
Thoroughly investigating any recurring down time issues or any down time that is more than 20 minutes
Relentlessly pursuing the rate target by identifying and correcting issues with man, method, or machine.
Monitor and analyze consolidated production metrics (KPIs), such as output, productivity, and quality to assess the plant’s performance and implement improvements to enhance productivity.
Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency while maintaining high levels of quality and safety.
Attend Customer Focus meetings, assist in continuous improvement efforts, and ensure successful
implementation.
Review delivery requirements and machine production schedules to prevent missed commitments.
Approve overtime to meet delivery deadlines and ensure wage rates align with work performed.
Oversee the implementation of ISO-14001, OSHAS, and ISO-TS16949 standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional departments such as Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Materials to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
Manage budget and resource allocation for the plant, ensuring that financial goals are met, and adjust optimize operational efficiency.
Perform LPAs (Layered Process Audits) on time as scheduled.
Prompt team effort and treat people with dignity and respect.
Optimize material flow to eliminate waste and increase efficiency.
Understands how his/her job contributes to profitability.
Initiate, seek and champion continuous improvement.
Eliminate waste by rapidly solving problems at their source.
Address personnel matters such as hiring, performance evaluations, and discipline in coordination with the Human Resources department.
Review vacation requests and approve or deny ensuring no interruption to production.
Additional duties as assigned.
Academic/Educational Requirements
A university degree in Business, Operations Management, or Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent expertise gained through professional experience, training, or certifications.
At least eight years of experience, including five years in a management role in a manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.

Ability to network with other facilities and managers to exchange information and resolve issues.
Lead staff meetings, make announcements, and provide policy and procedure guidance.
Decision-making ability regarding operational changes and staffing needs.
Expertise in responding to customer complaints and managing staff hiring and firing decisions.
Ability to analyze and interpret production data, such as charts and graphs.
Experience completing legal forms and understanding compliance requirements.
Strong financial management skills, including budget tracking, labor cost calculations, and expense
projections.
Proven ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
A commitment to continuous learning through professional development, industry events, and management courses.
Strong negotiation skills for managing customer relationships and resolving issues.
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as machining, foundry practices, and assembly exposure.
Ability to manage large-scale operations with a focus on continuous improvement, quality assurance, and efficiency.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Must have strong interpersonal skills.
Organized, self-motivated and self-directed.
Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks.
Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines while maintaining quality and safety standards.
