Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025. Reporting to the VP, Media Relations, the Manager, Media Relations will support the broader communications team with a strong focus on transactional media relations, media monitoring, research, and competitive intelligence. This role works cross-functionally to help identify and develop compelling stories, manage daily media inquiries, and maintain strong relationships with internal partners and external media. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for the entertainment industry and the evolving media landscape. Responsibilities include: + Serve as the day-to-day lead on incoming media relations requests, overseeing internal and external communications. + Coordinate and work on announcements, including drafting media materials such as fact sheets, press releases, talking points, and memos. + Manage media lists and media list databases with a focus on updating in real-time to keep the team informed in a timely manner. + Identify and secure speaking opportunities for executives that ladder up to the company’s core messaging. + Assist in developing the overall PR strategy, defining key media opportunities, creating targeted outreach lists, and detailed timelines. + Manage spokesperson materials including media training, executive headshots and bios along with interview briefing sheets and other documents as assigned. + Assist with managing corporate social media accounts. Basic Qualifications:  + Bachelor’s degree required; business, communications or journalism discipline preferred. + 3+ years of relevant communications experience. + Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other applications. Desired Characteristics + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Pays attention to multiple details and multiple tasks while minimizing errors. + Excellent project management and organizational skills. + Demonstrates ability to work on a team and willingness to give assistance to co-workers in other areas. + Proven relationships with reporters across multiple verticals. + Independent, self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision. + Must be able to maintain department business with the utmost confidentiality. Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the New York, NY office a minimum of three days per week. This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
