**The Opportunity**
This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Diabetes Care division where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Market Research within our Abbott Diabetes Care, New Medical Sensors business located in Alameda, CA reporting to the Director, Strategic Marketing for New Medical Sensors.
In this role, you will be leading research efforts for the program, interacting closely with product marketing and leadership. You will perform primary and secondary market research, and analyze the insights to inform marketing decisions. You will collect and maintain information on the requirements, organization, budget and preferences of prospective customers. Communication will be a key part of this role, you will be preparing and giving presentations to management on market planning.
**What You’ll Work On**
+ Manages primary and secondary market research projects with minimal supervision.
+ Works with team to define scope and objective of the project. Determines appropriate research methodology.
+ Leads data collection process by selecting and supervising vendors and ensuring that their services meet the company's product development and market research needs.
+ Manages within budget and timelines.
+ Gathers data on customers' needs from various sources and support the information gathered with statistical analysis to identify variables influencing future development and sales.
+ Develops models for forecasting revenues based on market data.
+ Gathers insights from various engagements (stakeholder interviews, conferences, site visits)
+ Develops market share and trend reports for company and competition through information gathered from various sources.
+ Organizes information in market research library to allow easy access to marketing documentation.
+ Understands business environment and relates extensive knowledge of internal and external activities to trends.
+ Interfaces with a variety of management levels on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units.
+ May lead a project team.
+ Provides technical leadership to business units.
+ Exercises judgment independently.
+ Plans and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Initiates or maintains schedule for projects and project milestones. Selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion.Establishes priorities of individual or project assignments.
**Required Qualifications**
Bachelors Degree in marketing, business, statistics or other similar degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in market research
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible market research experience in medtech/health care or combined with consumer packaged goods market research experience
Comprehensive knowledge and application business concepts, procedures and practices.
**Preferred Qualifications**
Masters Degree
Uses in-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/relationships.
Is recognized as an expert in work group.
Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Has broad knowledge of various technical alternatives and their potential impact on the business.

The base pay for this position is $112,000.00 – $224,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
