SUMMARY The Material Planning and Control Manager manages the OEM planning group to ensure cost, quality and delivery targets are met to better meet the needs of the business. This position guides the planning team to drive optimal inventory utilization, optimal customer satisfaction for delivery and quality, and optimal processes to meet the needs of the business. He or she leads and manages the demand process including MRP utilization, forecasting policies and planning techniques. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Driving inventory optimization by implementing best practices while satisfying customer demands and business targets includes WIP, Excess and Obsolete reduction and FG strategies. Ensuring policy deployment objectives for material inventory utilization and on-time delivery are satisfied. Providing appropriate material availability to meet customer demands and revenue targets. Establishing and maintaining MPS and finished goods inventory policies. Creating standard work and detailed work instructions for planning functions by product line. Analyzing market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepare market analysis. Calculating capacity and demand variation using simulation analysis. Establishing Skills Matrix and Performance Metrics. Maintaining inventory integrity and cycle count process. Lead and coordinate the site wide Annual Physical Inventory. Identifies and leads Continuous Improvement events. Develops Kanban pull systems and lean manufacturing processes. Arranges for the disposal of surplus and obsolete materials. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage shipping and receiving departments including subordinate supervisors who oversee employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, performance appraisals, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Bachelors preferred. Prior supervisory or leadership experience Fluent with MRP systems, specifically materials management functionality. Strong business acumen coupled with mental aptitude and motivation to learn new functions and expand areas of expertise. Exceptional interpersonal skills. A successful candidate regularly interacts with teams on matters concerning several functional areas.
