The Manager of IT Planning plays a pivotal role in shaping how technology investments are prioritized, governed, and executed to support enterprise-wide objectives. This role sits at the intersection of Technology strategy, business alignment, and execution oversight, ensuring that the Meijer Technology organization delivers measurable value through a balanced and well-managed portfolio of initiatives.
This leader is responsible for driving the annual and multi-year Technology planning processes, establishing and evolving portfolio governance practices, and ensuring effective use of technology resources. They provide structure and transparency to how initiatives are proposed, assessed, funded, and monitored throughout their lifecycle. Partnership with the Technology Business Management Office, Finance, Strategic Partners, Technology Directors, and building out the product strategy roadmap are some of the key deliverables for this position. This role ensures that technology initiatives are aligned to organizational goals, risks are actively managed, and results are measurable.
In addition to leading planning and governance efforts, the Manager fosters a data-driven and collaborative culture that encourages continuous improvement in how Meijer Technology plans, prioritizes, and delivers outcomes. The ideal candidate brings a blend of strategic thinking, operational discipline, and exceptional communication skills to influence decision-making and ensure alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
**What You'll be Doing:**
**Demand Intake Management:** Design and manage structured processes for receiving, assessing, and prioritizing business requests, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
**Stakeholder Collaboration:** Work closely with business leaders, project sponsors, and delivery teams to facilitate demand intake, ensuring clarity on scope, value, and resource requirements.
**Governance & Prioritization:** Establish frameworks for demand scoring, financial assessments, and portfolio alignment, ensuring transparency and executive visibility.
**ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management:** Utilize ServiceNow Strategic
Portfolio Management capabilities to automate workflows, improve visibility, and enhance portfolio governance.
**Reporting & Analytics:** Develop dashboards and reports, within ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management, to track demand intake trends, project lifecycle metrics, and portfolio performance for data-driven decision-making.
**Process Optimization:** Continuously refine demand intake processes, incorporating best practices to improve efficiency and alignment with business strategy.
**Risk & Compliance Management:** Ensure compliance with corporate policies, financial guidelines, and risk management protocols when evaluating and approving demand requests.
**What You Bring with You (Qualifications):**
5+ years in Program Management (PMO) roles, focusing on Demand Intake and project portfolio management.
Experience with ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management is strongly preferred
Strong background in project governance, prioritization frameworks, and stakeholder engagement.
Expertise in portfolio management, demand planning, and resource allocation.
Ability to translate business needs into actionable project plans and prioritization criteria.
Proficiency in ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management, PowerBI, and other portfolio management tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
Possesses project management skill set for managing project scope, time, cost, quality, human resource, communication, risk and procurement.
Possesses strong planning/tracking/controlling/tracking skills.
Possesses good follow-through, administrative and organizational skills and is able to multi-task.
Possesses strong interpretation skills for the review of reports and data from all areas of the company.
Possesses strong problem-solving, negotiating, facilitation and presentation skills.
Possesses excellent verbal and written skills.
Possesses ability to define methods to measure processes and standards.
Able to work cross-functionally across ITS and Business areas, and with all levels of Meijer Leadership and Team Members.
Adaptive, flexible and responsive to challenges, change and customer business cultures.
