The Instructional Design Manager is responsible for identifying, developing and delivering training programs and leading change management processes to drive high levels of performance across Family Dollar divisions
The Instructional Design Manager is a position responsible for developing and executing training programs that support Family Dollar key initiatives. This position will direct the creation and implementation of high quality and high impact learning and development programs within the allocated training budget. This position must also work in close partnership with all divisions to develop and execute comprehensive training programs to achieve key organizational objectives and metrics.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of importanceManages Instructional Design function; allocating workload, supervising the quality of work output and providing leadership and direction to the departmentDevelop and maintain course design scheduleDemonstrate competence with design, concepts, techniques and processes that support effective adult learning using all environments: print, web-based, classroom, etc.Demonstrate a working knowledge of learning management systems (administration, tracking, and basic technical requirements)Design and develop content for web-based delivery. Convert source documents, procedures, processes into interactive online learning programsDemonstrate experience in developing paper-based training modulesDemonstrate experience in delivering interactive training face-to-face to associates at all levels in the organization Demonstrate process mapping skills by documenting complex work flows or tasks into effective learning aids or procedures. Be pro-active in making recommendations, developing and implementing performance improvement practicesWork with Operations, Logistics and other divisions to determine new course needs
Evaluate and modify existing courses to ensure they continue to meet the training needMinimum Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required.Masters Degree in Instructional Design or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum of 10 years’ experience in adult learning environment with a proven track record of initiating, researching, planning, and driving the completion of concurrent comprehensive training initiativesExtensive experience with web-based training development tools, Microsoft Office, Project, screen capture tools, illustration/graphic software. Extensive experience with MX Studio (Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks) Must have working knowledge of learning management systems
Excellent writing, grammar, and editing skillsDemonstrate a high level of initiativeMust have the ability to manage multiple projectsAbility to organize, prioritize, and execute multiple projects concurrentlyMust be able to cope with high stress situations and meet strict deadlines
