The Manager of Inpatient Pharmacy Services is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of pharmacy services in the inpatient setting at Holland Hospital. This role ensures the delivery of safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy to hospitalized patients and supports the pharmaceutical needs of Holland Hospital’s Medical Group, Outpatient Surgery Center, and Emergency Care locations. The Manager supervises pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff, and serves as a key liaison with nursing, providers, and hospital administration to promote optimal medication management and patient outcomes across care settings.Employment Type: Full Time
Requirements: Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required, Active state of Michigan Pharmacist license and Controlled Substance required, Demonstrated strength in pharmacy operations, clinical collaboration, staff leadership, and regulatory compliance required, Ability to lead teams, manage complex workflows, and collaborate across departments and care settings required, Board certification preferred, Experience working across inpatient and ambulatory care environments preferred, Completion of a PGY1 residency preferred. PGY2 or equivalent administrative experience desirable.
Operational Leadership
Oversee daily pharmacy operations, including inpatient medication distribution and sterile/non-sterile compounding, supporting care for inpatients as well as patients seen in the Medical Group practices, Outpatient Surgery Center, and Emergency Department.Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, DNV, ASHP, ISMP, Board of Pharmacy).Support medication procurement, inventory control, and use of pharmacy automation systems.Staff Supervision & Development
Lead and manage pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, ensuring appropriate staffing coverage across service areas.Oversee hiring, orientation, training, performance evaluations, and professional development.Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.Clinical & Quality Integration
Partner with the Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor to develop and maintain high-quality, cost-effective clinical pharmacy services across all applicable sites.Monitor compliance with evidence-based guidelines, formulary adherence, and medication safety practices.Support quality improvement and risk reduction initiatives related to medication use.Financial & Resource Management
Assist in development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets; implement cost-control and revenue optimization strategies.Oversee drug procurement and 340B compliance where applicable, in coordination with pharmacy purchasing teams.Analyze key metrics including inventory turnover, staff productivity, and medication utilization.Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance
Maintain readiness for all regulatory surveys and ensure compliance with applicable standards.Conduct regular audits and coordinate response plans for compliance issues or incidents.Technology, Systems & Data
Ensure optimal use of pharmacy technology (e.g., dispensing cabinets, EMR integration, barcode scanning).Collaborate with IT and clinical informatics on systems enhancements and workflow improvements.Utilize pharmacy data to support decision-making and performance monitoring.Interdepartmental & External Collaboration
Serve as pharmacy liaison for inpatient services, Medical Group practices, outpatient surgery, and emergency care operations.Participate in cross-functional committees and projects that impact pharmacy operations and patient care.Contribute to education efforts, including student precepting and community outreach when applicable.Holland Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer, please see our EEO policy
