Overview of Position:
The primary focus of the HRIS Manager is to provide functional and technical leadership in the development, optimization, and support of enterprise-wide human resources systems. Serving as a hands-on subject matter expert, this role requires deep experience with Workday, as well as supporting platforms such as ATS and timekeeping systems. The HRIS Manager is responsible for system configuration, testing, data integrity, integrations, and continuous improvement through the thoughtful analysis of data flows and platform functionality. Highly collaborative by nature, this role plays a critical part in driving operational excellence and tech-enabled HR service delivery.
Key Responsibilities include:
Manage and mentor a team of HRIS analysts to support strong performance and team growth
Serve as the subject matter expert lead for Workday and other HR systems, providing tactical support and strategic insight across functional HR areas. Lead the help desk for HRIS (detect, troubleshoot and resolve issues)
Evaluate, analyze, and maintain the HRIS ecosystem to ensure alignment with evolving business needs and HR objectives
Lead system configuration and workflow design within Workday. Manage security roles, business processes, and data structures aligned to HR operational needs
Drive innovation and process improvement, identifying enhancements that deliver efficiency, user experience, and data accuracy
Oversee HR related technology projects and work collaboratively with all functional areas of HR and IT to create solutions that address current and future needs
Regularly analyze user experience and feedback loops for enhancement opportunities and to ensure HRIS initiatives deliver value to employees, managers, and other end users
Coordinate and execute all system upgrades, new feature rollouts, user acceptance testing, and deployment planning
Ensure data integrity through ongoing audits, validation processes, and serve as the point of contact for data issues. Develop and deliver standard, scheduled, and ad-hoc reporting
Create and maintain user documentation, job aids, and system guides to support usability and ensure consistent practices
Deliver training to end users, providing guidance on navigation, functionality, and process adoption.
Stay current with Workday releases, emerging HR technology trends, and best practices to inform future system optimization opportunities
Support HR leadership in building, prioritizing, and executing the HR technology roadmap
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (e.g., Information Systems, Human Resources, or Business) is required
5–7 years of experience in HRIS, HR Operations, or similar HR roles, with hands-on Workday configuration and administration. Workday HCM experience is required
Experience with Kronos and other applicant tracking or HCM systems preferred
Demonstrated ability to design and support scalable solutions across HR processes
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly guidance and partner cross-functionally for requirements gathering and change management
Excellent communication skills, as this role frequently interacts with Senior and Executive Management as well as our field HR teams
Strong customer service with the ability to maintain a professional, friendly demeanor at all times
Solution oriented with solid business acumen
Excellent analytical skills; ability to collect and analyze data and present findings. Proficient in building and customizing Workday reports
Critical thinking skills with the ability to work independently
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Solid ability in identifying and resolving problems in a timely, effective manner
Insurance industry experience an asset
Ability to travel (10%)

Disclosure required under applicable law in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and Washington states: The expected salary range for this position is $145,000 to $155,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
