Geotab is seeking a Senior Manager, Embedded Engineering who will lead a team of firmware and software developers with the design and development of the IOXs and the IOX platform for use within the Geotab ecosystem. What you'll do:

As a Senior Manager, Embedded Engineering, your key area of responsibility will be managing, measuring and implementing an Agile development process for all teams within the group, participating in various cross-functional meetings, removing roadblocks for team members, and overseeing the activities and performance of direct reports. You will need to work closely with other development teams on design and implementation of features spanning multiple products.

To be successful in this role you will be able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

How you'll make an impact:

Determines the strategy and vision for the IOX group in conjunction with the VP and other senior leaders.

Determines the projects and tasks that are required of the group. Manage the groups expectations with regards to task assignments, work arrangements and other department expectations.

Focus on coaching and mentoring the teams performance and ongoing development

Responsible for overall group staffing needs and work with the VP on resource planning and provide forecasting numbers for anticipated net new hires. 

Responsible for Geotab’s IOX suite, including the design and development of all new IOX productsWorks closely with senior department leaders in defining, implementing, and managing the product development process.

Ensure work progress stays on schedule and update stakeholders on project status.

Manage, measure and implement an Agile development process for all teams within the group

Participate in various cross-functional meetings, removing roadblocks for team members as required.

Collaborate with other development teams on design and implementation of features spanning multiple products.

Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth and training opportunities.

Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs and career development planning.

Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.

What you'll bring to the role:

Post-secondary degree/diploma specialization in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.

8+ years experience in embedded software design and development.

2+ years experience managing and developing teams.

Success with coaching and development of employees.

Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.

Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands.

Strong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.

Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
