Key Responsibilities May Include:
Design and execute the regional Decarbonization Strategy in close collaboration with regional supply chain managers, aligning with Brambles' global sustainability objectives.Monitor and ensure compliance with regional sustainability legislation, assessing its impact on supply chain operations and adapting strategies as necessary.Lead research and evaluation of new decarbonization technologies, including alternative fuels, emissions reduction innovations, and driver efficiency training, for potential integration into the regional supply chain.Manage and oversee decarbonization projects within the region, including participation in industry collaborations and securing funding opportunities for decarbonization initiatives.Report regional progress on decarbonization goals to the Sustainability and Global Decarbonization Teams, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and sharing best practices.Collaborate with regional supply chain management to scope, evaluate, and implement decarbonization projects that align with regional objectives and deliver measurable results.Partner with local service centers and transportation partners to promote decarbonization best practices and foster engagement in achieving emissions reduction targets.Work with suppliers and customers on joint decarbonization projects, sharing knowledge and solutions to collectively reduce emissions.Support continuous improvement efforts within the region, driving progress toward emissions reduction targets while ensuring cost-efficiency and operational effectiveness.
Decarbonisation is a strategic priority signed off by the Brambles Board, supported by public emissions reductions targets the business reports against externally to our investor community and other stakeholder groups. As such, Decarbonisation is one of strategic areas of Global Supply Chain and the Brambles of the Future strategy, and it is an ELT remuneration modifier. Waste and water strategic priorities as part of Brambles’ sustainability programme and Regenerative Supply Chain ambition, will also become the responsibility of the global decarbonisation team.
Reporting into the Director, Americas Decarbonisation, this role will support the coordination, execution and reporting of strategic roadmaps to deliver on Americas decarbonisation, zero product waste and water short- and medium-term strategic goals as defined by the Global Decarbonisation Strategy, covering CHEP and subcontracted operations, CHEP operated fleets and subcontracted transport decarbonisation levers, in close collaboration with relevant business functions within and outside of Supply Chain.
This role will have a primary focus on the Latin America and US markets, supporting the Canada market as a secondary focus.
Identifies, defines and end-to-end project manages specific decarbonisation, waste and water opportunities in the Americas region to deliver on the region’s 2030 roadmaps, in collaboration with relevant functions. Relevant Category managers (be it in Regional or Global Strategic Sourcing, or Indirect Procurement within Finance) execute the procurement elements of relevant decarbonisation initiatives (RFP, contract negotiation, supplier performance evaluation, etc).Coordinates cross-functional collaboration across all decarbonisation, waste and water efforts to ensure successful delivery of all levers of action in the regional roadmap.Keeps up to date with the latest Latin America and US legislation regarding sustainability and climate-related requirements and evaluating the potential impact on the Latin America and US supply chains, including potential access to funding.Keeps up to date with decarbonisation, waste and water technology developments and industry trends, especially as it relates to freight decarbonisation.Supports the implementation of new or improved standard operating procedures / business practices /standardised criteria to enable the advancement of decarbonization objectives, e.g., integrating robust renewable electricity criteria in power supply contractsSupports the internal validation of draft regional emissions figures produced by the ESG Finance team on the basis of knowledge of regional market circumstances and progress against goalsSupports the preparation of the regional decarbonisation, waste and water financial budgets and 4-year financial plans, gathering input from all relevant cross-functional areas and in close collaboration with Regional FinanceSupports and actively participates in customer-related projects and sessions to share best practice related to our decarbonisation, waste and water journey and to engage on common projects to pursue net positive / regeneration outcomes through collaboration.Supports the implementation of supplier engagement programs on decarbonisation, waste and waste in Latin America and US for all supplier categories in scope (carriers, subcontracted service centres, and timber suppliers), working closely with Global Decarbonisation team members and the supplier relationship owners in each caseCreates and maintains detailed project management and report regional key performance indicators (including progress against yearly decarbonization, waste and water milestones, financial reporting, integrated business planning…) as part of the Global Decarbonisation Governance FrameworkSupports cross-regional knowledge sharing forums and initiatives to share challenges and lessons learnt with regards to both operations and transport-related decarbonisation efforts
