Title and Summary
Manager, Data Governance Finance DomainOverview:Mastercard is seeking a Manager, Data Governance to lead and operationalize data governance initiatives within the Finance domain, playing a key role in Mastercard’s broader enterprise data strategy. In this role, you’ll drive cross-functional collaboration, champion data standards, and support the implementation of governance frameworks that protect and unlock the value of data for both business and customer impact.
You’ll work at the intersection of finance, data, and technology—helping ensure data assets are well-defined, trusted, and used responsibly as part of Mastercard’s Finance ERP transformation and broader modernization efforts.
Role:
•\tSupport the implementation and operationalization of Mastercard’s enterprise data governance strategy, policies, and standards within the Finance domain.
•\tLead the deployment of metadata management and data quality practices in alignment with the company’s enterprise data roadmap.
•\tPartner with cross-functional teams to define and manage data standards, including naming conventions, definitions, and classifications for business terms.
•\tCoordinate enterprise-wide data management initiatives that support the Finance ERP implementation.
•\tDevelop and maintain clear, actionable standards, procedures, and playbooks for consistent data stewardship and governance.
•\tDrive adoption of a scalable data stewardship model by co-leading working groups, prioritizing standards, and tracking progress.
•\tDeliver education and training to stakeholders to increase awareness and compliance with data governance principles.
•\tProvide subject matter expertise in governance, stewardship, and data catalog practices to Finance teams.
•\tIdentify governance control points and partner with Data Strategy and Management teams to implement and refine compliance workflows.
•\tManage a backlog of data-related issues, escalating critical variances or exceptions to senior leaders as needed.
•\tLead forums and communications to raise awareness of data governance best practices and build long-term organizational alignment.
•\tAct as a change agent and advocate—influencing adoption of governance practices across all levels of the organization.
•\tCoordinate with Finance subject matter experts to develop standardized data dictionaries and glossaries.
•\tAlign Finance cataloging efforts with Mastercard’s enterprise glossary and metadata standards.
•\tResearch and coordinate with subject matter experts to develop guidelines that capture and define critical data elements (CDEs) and data sources.
All About You:
•\tProven experience in data governance, data management, or related roles in large enterprise environments.
•\tExperience with data governance platforms such as Atlan.
•\tProficiency in data governance methodologies and in adapting industry best practices to federated models.
•\tExperience working within or supporting the Finance domain.
•\tPrevious experience working with data catalog.
•\tStrong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to understand complex data product constructs and structures.
•\tProven ability to drive organizational change and establish policies, standards, and procedures supporting data governance.
•\tHighly motivated self-starter able to balance strategic planning and hands-on execution, delivering measurable business results under time constraints.
•\tStrong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely to different stakeholders.
•\tExceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in relationship building, influencing, and cross-functional collaboration.
Nice-to-haves:
•\tAdvanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
•\tExperience with ATLAN Data Catalog.
•\tExperience with business glossary and/or taxonomy development.
•\tFamiliarity with Mastercard data sets (e.g., Transaction, Consumer) preferred.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
