Responsibilities Team Leadership and Management: Build, mentor, and coach a team of data engineers fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews Allocate resources effectively and manage project priorities in collaboration with product owners for each key business domain Manage relationships with both local Serbian and US based leadership, ensuring the team is making a strong contribution to Rivian’s data objectives Data Infrastructure Development and Maintenance: Own and oversee the design, development, and maintenance of various data pipelines and relevant data assets in the Enterprise data lake Manage and support the data platform for Rivian Ensure data quality, reliability, security, and performance in line with company standards Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to improve Rivian’s data infrastructure and its business usage / value, including leveraging emerging AI capabilities Collaborate with other engineering and business teams to integrate data systems and assets Collaboration and Communication: Partner closely with product owners on the team, business stakeholders and source system owners to understand their data needs. Be able to do this across multiple geographies and time zones. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, with proven ability to influence stakeholder decision making Document data infrastructure and processes and set up best practices guidelines for the broader team on data ingestion and transformation efficacy Other Areas of Focus: Create architectural standards to design a modern data stack for highly scalable and resilient data pipelines with streaming and batch processing, highly scalable processing and storage layer conducive to self service data analytics. Some of the tools in play are Kafka/Kinesis, Spark, Databricks, Fivetran, dbt etc. Continuous research of the latest data technologies like time series database/graph databases to provide new capabilities and continuously increase efficiency Qualifications At least 6 years of work experience in the same or similar positions Prior experience leading teams and implementing effective execution models for globally distributed organizations Proven track record of leveraging data assets and capabilities to drive business impact Knowledge of modern data stacks such as Databricks, DBT, and ingestion patterns to build robust data pipelines Knowledge of automation and CI/CD best practices Knowledge of using ML models, LLMs and similar AI capabilities to make step change in how we leverage data to make business decisions Equal Opportunity Rivian is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
