The opportunity
The Corporate Accounting team is responsible for the management and maintenance of the General Ledger for OTPP as well as oversight of Accounts Payable and administrative subsidiaries.
The Manager, Corporate Accounting will lead the accounting for the administrative subsidiaries in various jurisdictions in their functional currency and will assist with the review of auditor requests. You will also support Taxation in reviewing and understanding the GST and VAT returns for subsidiaries. You will also play an integral role with supporting the OTPP corporate activities, operational improvement projects and initiatives relating to Corporate Accounting.
Who you'll work with
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, you will work with the Corporate Accounting team and will also have exposure to the People & Culture (P&C) team, Taxation, and regional leaders and team members.
What you'll do
Manage and maintain the FSM General Ledger and its various modules including the Cash Ledger, Fixed Assets and the General Ledger
Support the month end process reviewing Bank Reconciliations, Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Cash / Journal entries
Review the monthly trial balance for the administrative subsidiaries and ensure that balance sheet reconciliations are complete and accurate
Oversight of leases and IFRS 16 requirements
Prepare monthly financial statements for Hong Kong office for FRR filing
Work closely with Taxation UK and Singapore VAT /GST remittances and filings
Lead or participate in special projects by providing the required technical, accounting and financial reporting specification
What you'll need
5-7 years’ experience in accounting/finance department
Relevant university degree, including CPA
An understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Working knowledge of GAAP for pension plans and reporting under other accounting standards such as UK FRS, HKIFRS is helpful
Very good knowledge and practical understanding of accounting theory
Understanding of Teachers’ Pension Plan and pension plan environment is preferred
Previous experience with system implementation and technology upgrade will definitely be an asset
Effective interpersonal skills both written and verbal to prepare reports and liaise with contacts inside and outside the Plan
