Job Purpose
The Management Accountant will support cost control and financial decision-making by maintaining accurate financial information, performing cost and variance analysis, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes. This role ensures the integrity of financial data and compliance with internal controls and standards, helping the business meet its strategic and operational goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare plant monthly management accounts in accordance with company rules
• Execute month-end closing activities, focusing on operations and cost transactions
• Analyse the costs, prepare weekly and monthly variance reports on forecast differences and the causes for Labour, Overhead, Usage & Production Efficiencies
• Identify and track cost-saving opportunities across the business
• Advise management on plant financial performance through clear analysis and reporting
• Provide financial insights and training to non-financial stakeholders to support better decision-making
• Lead the preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budgets in line with company strategy
• Support department heads with budget planning and expense tracking
• Collaborate with the Financial Controller and team to ensure accurate reporting of actual results, forecasts, and budgets
• Ensure strict compliance with internal controls, policies, and audit standards
• Assist in year-end audit preparation and serve as liaison to external auditors
• Maintain robust systems and controls over inventory and product costing
• Maintain accurate and reliable product costing process
• Conduct stock revaluations and manage the review of obsolete stock
• Promote continuous improvement within the finance function and across plant operations
• Contribute financial input into quality improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance
• Participate in MDI (Managing Daily Improvement) reporting and represent finance in managerial meetings when needed
• Adhere to Enersys’ standards, procedures, safety practices, and ethics policies
Qualifications
• Qualified ACCA / ACA / CIMA
• Bachelor’s Degree ideally Accountancy & Finance related
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in manufacturing or industrial settings
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and communication skills
