This position functions as a dual-certified technologist in breast imaging, combining advanced expertise in mammography and breast ultrasound. The technologist performs high-quality mammography and breast ultrasound exams, assists with image-guided procedures (including stereotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsies), and delivers compassionate patient care in a fast-paced, academic medical setting. This role supports radiologists through technical excellence, effective communication, and collaborative teamwork, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and quality standards. This position provides direct patient care and may be required to access and prepare medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

Responsibilities Performs diagnostic and screening mammograms and targeted breast ultrasound exams per ACR and facility protocols.Assists radiologists in performing image-guided breast procedures, including ultrasound-guided biopsies and aspirations, stereotactic biopsies, and surgical localizations.Educates and supports patients throughout the imaging procedures to ensure comfort and understanding.Collects and accurately documents patient history and exam data in the EMR; ensures timely follow-up documentation.Maintains imaging room setup and ensures adherence to sterile technique compliance, and room cleanliness.Participates in departmental quality assurance, quality control and ACR accreditation processes.Communicates imaging results to patients after radiologist has reviewed imaging and made diagnosis, and when specifically directed by radiologist.Trains and mentors students, residents, fellows, and new technologists in breast imaging techniques and departmental protocolsMonitors equipment performance and initiates prompt escalation of issues to ensure operational readiness.Supports general clinical operations including schedule coverage, inventory management, and supply maintenance.Assists in obtaining imaging and documentation required for ACR accreditation and actively contributes to quality improvement initiatives and procedural compliance.Operates both ionizing and non-ionizing imaging equipment in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesProficiency in mammography and breast ultrasound imaging techniques.Strong understanding of breast anatomy, pathology, and imaging protocols.Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently in a high-volume clinical environment.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide compassionate patient care.Ability to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and assist in quality control.Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to teaching and clinical support.Ability to effectively communicate with patients, radiologists, mammography technologists, and referring providers. Qualifications Qualifications Licenses RequiredCurrent RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Utah.Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist for Mammography, R.T. (M) (ARRT).Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists for Breast Sonography. R.T.(S)(BS)(ARRT)* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department. Qualifications (Preferred) PreferredThree (3) years of experience in mammography.Experience with stereotactic biopsy procedures.Working Conditions and Physical Demands
