Mammography Technologist II – 30 Hours – Kenmore

SUMMARY

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs both general mammography imaging procedures as well as advanced procedures to generate imaging information for the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of patients. Performs mammography exams in accordance with MQSA, state regulations, and health centers’ established policies and procedures. Also performs advanced level procedures such as stereotactic biopsies, breast ultrasound and/or other mammography intervention procedures under guidance of certified radiologist.Operates equipment safely and maintains ALARA standards while performing mammography and any other types of radiological procedures.Reports to either a Radiology Supervisor or Regional Radiology Manager.

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit required. Graduate of an accredited radiography program. Must be licensed in Radiography for a minimum of one year and have successfully passed the ARRT exam in Mammography. If performing breast ultrasound must be ARRT or ARDMS certified in breast ultrasound. Must be MQSA-qualified in mammography in order to perform specified procedures such as the stereotactic biopsy. Continuing education and continuing experience requirements as defined by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) must be maintained. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2 years experience as a mammography technologist, with at least 1 year performing specified advanced procedures (e.g., stereotactic biopsy or needle localizations or Breast ultrasound).

SKILLS

General knowledge of healthcare delivery services. Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations. If breast ultrasound must have ability to learn and master new equipment and tasks related to breast image Quality and Safety. Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds. Ability to complete Mammography or Breast ultrasound exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition. Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR), PACS and associated imaging equipment.
