As a Mammography Technologist, you will cover Family Health Centers in the area you live as well as supporting Lakewood, Lorain, Stow falls and mobile outreach. As a Mammography Technologist, you will operate a mammography unit to obtain high-quality diagnostic images of the breast under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities include explaining procedures to patients, accurately positioning and immobilizing the breast, and closely monitoring the scanning process. This involves observing the video display and making necessary adjustments to image density or contrast to ensure optimal image clarity. Upon completion, you will assess the images to determine their diagnostic adequacy. Throughout all phases of the procedure, strict adherence to radiation safety protocols and the use of protective measures are maintained in compliance with regulatory standards to safeguard both patients and healthcare personnel. **A caregiver in this role works varying shifts between 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. + float to Family Health Centers as well as Lakewood, Lorain, Stow falls and mobile outreach.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Review mammography requisition and computer exam forms to determine the type of exam required. + Accurately position patients, determine the exposure factors, and operate mammography equipment according to established procedures to obtain a high-quality image. + Review processed images to determine quality and the need for additional images. + Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation. + Ensure patients' safety and comfort during and after the exam. + Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via CAD and PACS. + Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. + Report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. + Process billing via RIS. + Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, and federal law, and with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.) + Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements. + Perform equipment checks to assure proper function of and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions. + Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies. + Provide teaching and mentoring to new hires and students. + Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions. + Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of Radiologic Technology + Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing + Certification in Mammography: R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT) + Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) + Successful completion of 40 hours of mammography training + Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
