UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a full-time Mammographer to join the Magee-Womens Imaging team at UPMC Passavant-McCandless!

We are offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus to eligible hires for a 2-year work commitment!

The Mammographer will work rotating daylight shifts, Monday through Friday, with a rotating Saturday shift! No Sundays, on-call, or holidays required!

Additionally, there may be travel to other local Magee-Womens Imaging offices up to 50% of the time. The Mammographer will be able to choose their two other rotational locations!

The Mammographer performs imaging procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision. In this role, you will competently perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on individual experience and education. 

Responsibilities:

Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers, reviews patient history, assesses physician orders, and documents patient history. Performs breast examinations and documents scars, moles, and pertinent findings. Provides individualized breast self-examination instructions and discusses the importance of a year clinical breast examination. Performs mammography procedures, including proper application of breast compression, positioning, and a variety of special mammography views. Prepares patient for mammography procedure and tends to the physical safety and comfort of the patient. Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, and explains procedures to help allay the patients’ fears and solicit their cooperation. Ensures all exams are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed. Assists with the following Invasive Breast Imaging Procedures: ultrasound and stereo tactic guided needle biopsy, clip placement, ductogram, wire localization, radioactive see localization, and sentinel node injection procedures. Performs equipment quality control procedures utilizing radioactive sources and ensures equipment performance is appropriate. If required by this department, must demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture, demonstrating proper use of power injectors. May be required to administer PO and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy and assess patients for potential risk factors prior to the administration of contrast.
