Join the UPMC Somerset Team as a Mammographer! You’ll perform imaging procedures independently, using your skills and initiative to apply ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Schedule:

Mammography: 1-2 days per week Radiology: Remaining days Daylight shifts only, including a weekend rotation

Responsibilities:

You’ll perform breast exams and document any scars, moles, or pertinent findings. Teach patients how to perform breast self-exams and explain the importance of annual clinical breast exams. Properly identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocols during procedures. Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols for the best results. Document patient history in electronic records as needed. Ensure safety with radioactive materials. Perform mammography procedures proficiently, including proper breast compression and positioning. Prepare patients for mammography, ensuring their safety and comfort. Clearly explain procedures to patients to ease their fears and gain their cooperation. Make sure all exams are coded, tracked, networked for archiving and interpretation, and charges are entered.
