Makerspace Technician
The Makerspace Ford Lead Technician is responsible for the appropriate operation, maintenance, administration and training of Makerspace facilities and laboratories, as well as the control of the equipment, tools, machinery and technology. Overall control and administration of makerspace facilities and laboratories, considering upcoming new laboratories, technologies and equipment. 2. Provide technical support and assistance to Makerspace members: 1. Equipment, tools and machinery of all laboratories 2. Handling, operation and inspection of vehicles and/or prototypes 3. Emerging daily requirements 3. Support overall Makerspace administration, including workshops and events such as Teardowns, Side by Sides, Innovation challenges, among others. 4. Assist and collaborate with various skill teams to develop projects according to their needs. 5. Engage with suppliers to ensure and facilitate Makerspace project developments. 6. Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions to educate users on various Makerspace tools and technologies. 7. Develop and implement safety protocols, policies and procedures for Makerspace facilities, equipment and tools, aligned with Safety and Corporative Guidelines. 8. Support safety and environmental audits as required. 9. Provide safety training to users and enforce safety rules and guidelines to ensure that users are following best practices for safe operation of equipment and tools at Makerspace. 10. Ensure that all users are trained on how to safely operate the equipment and tools of Makerspace. 11. Develop and execute the maintenance programs for the equipment, machinery and the facilities of the Makerspace. 12. Manage overall inventory and supplies from Makerspace as necessary, always ensuring the operation and productivity of the laboratories as needed. 13. Create and maintain documentation such as user manuals, how-to guides, and troubleshooting guides for Makerspace equipment and tools. 14. Follow-up and installation of new equipment and/or technologies. 15. Carry out order and cleaning tasks in the work areas to maintain high quality standards. 16. Generate and implement productivity ideas that improve work efficiency. 17. Work with Makerspace leadership to develop long-term goals and plans. 18. Keep up to date with new technologies and trends in the maker community. 19. Support initiatives to accomplish FoM objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. **Skills Required for the Position:** + Education: Technical Degree Automotive Technology, Mechanics, or a related field. + English: Basic. + Automotive mechanics knowledge. + Vehicle component’s function knowledge. + Driving skills. + Computer skills including MS Office. + Knowledge and +3 years of experience in Makerspace technology (Additive Manufacturing, AR/VR Lab, Electronics, Manual Tooling, Subtractive manufacturing). + Software knowledge: + 3D CAD/Database (CATIA V5/Teamcenter Engineering preferable). + Additive Manufacturing & Inspection (Grabcad, Blade, Polyworks preferable) + AR/VR (SteamVR, Open XR, Hololens, VIVEPORT preferable) + Electronics (Arduino preferable) + Knowledge of G-code programming language. + Written & Oral Communication skills. + Teamwork and coordination skills. + Customer service skills. + Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to influence, negotiate, and achieve optimal solutions. + Desirable but not required: + Knowledge of Ford’s guidelines, procedures and internal software (FMS, ELMS, PTS) + Forklift Operation (DC3 License) Ford Motor Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer, as we are committed with a diverse workforce, and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, status as a veteran and basis of disability. **Requisition ID** : 48087
