Major Projects Director – Water  

 

Stantec is seeking a strong  – Major Projects Director – Water  to drive the successful identification, pursuit, and delivery of large-scale capital water projects across New Zealand.

In addition to providing traditional engineering, design, and construction management services, we have experience with complex design-builds, alliancing, programme management, information technology, asset management, and business consulting. 

 

The opportunity | Ko te āheinga 

 

In this senior leadership role, you’ll work closely with the Regional Director – Water, leading multidisciplinary teams on some of the country’s most significant water infrastructure programmes. 

 

You’ll play a critical role in strengthening executive-level client relationships, elevating the Stantec brand, and positioning the business for long-term growth. With a strong focus on technical excellence, you’ll oversee end-to-end delivery, integrate cross-discipline expertise, and shape strategic direction for complex water programmes. 

 

Below is a snapshot of some of the key responsibilities: 

 

Lead technical teams to deliver high-profile water infrastructure projects and programmes 

Build trusted relationships with key clients and partners to win and deliver major capital works 

Provide strategic input into proposals, pricing, resourcing, and risk mitigation 

Drive excellence and innovation across design, delivery, and technical leadership 

Develop and mentor high-performing teams, growing capability aligned with our business strategy 

 

What we’re looking for:  

 

15+ years of experience delivering complex capital projects in a technical leadership capacity 

Proven business development skills and ability to secure major project wins 

Chartership (or working toward) with a relevant professional body preferred 

Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills 

Deep technical knowledge and a passion for integrated, sustainable solutions
