The position is for a Senior FI Underwriter within Financial Lines in the Madrid Branch. The role will have both personal and collective responsibility for the growth and profitability of the FI portfolio. The position involves the underwriting of new business and key renewals in line with FI appetites as well as developing relationships and business production with Iberian brokers. The successful candidate will demonstrate adaptability by adjusting and responding effectively to changing market conditions and customer needs.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Head of Commercial Lines and the Iberian Financial Lines Manager to drive development opportunities, including devising strategies to achieve depth and breadth penetration of the market in FI. Develop close working relationships with key brokers with tenacity and skill in pursuing target new business accounts, demonstrating relationship-building capacity. Drive the marketing and development plan for FI - engaging in strategy, product, and marketing to consolidate and build from a solid, sustainable, and profitable book of business to convey Chubb’s products and capabilities. Deliver a profit to the financial institutions’ portfolio by implementing an underwriting and marketing strategy that matches our products and appetite to the local market. Lead by example and collaborate with product management and colleagues in other departments to best promote the Chubb franchise. This will include cross-lines relationship management of designated brokers, the drafting and follow-up of plans, and appropriate incentive arrangements, showcasing contract knowledge and negotiation skills. Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions and competitors activities. Execute rate and underwriting strategy, risk selection, and focused growth. Establish and execute business plans to maximize business opportunities with brokers. Build and maintain a strong external reputation, behaving in a manner consistent with Chubb’s core values and culture both internally and externally, delivering premium service.Requirements:
Native Spanish speaker and advanced level of English (C1).7+ years of experience in Financial Institutions underwriting as well as experience dealing directly with brokers and clients on complex placements.The candidate possesses a good market reputation as a technical expert and is proactive in identifying opportunities and taking initiatives to support our business goals, demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Bachelor’s degree or alternative professional accreditation (such as CII).The candidate must be an excellent communicator with strong influencing and negotiation skills both written and verbally. They must have the ability to build solid business relationships with brokers and customers and demonstrate general analytical and financial analysis skills, utilizing data insights.The individual must have proficiency in both sales and marketing as well as being a proactive self-starter who is confident to make decisions, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues and/or managers, and to refer to colleagues when required.They must be a self-motivated team player, with a ‘can-do’ attitude, who coordinates across departments and lines of business including Claims, leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency.The candidate should be competent with wording drafting and engaging with large complex FI clients.The individual should be able to support the development and training of the wider Iberian team through coaching and support in the development of formal training, applying process improvement strategies.What We Offer in Return
