Maintenance Technician- specializing in HVAC/Refrigeration

Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, facility structures, plumbing, and various types of refrigeration systems—including ammonia, Freon, and CO₂—along with electrical systems, all in compliance with regulatory requirements and company safety standards. Perform regular inspections and testing to ensure refrigeration systems operate within design specifications.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, repairs, inspections, and both preventative and predictive maintenance on:

Electrical systems, including motors, wiring, and electronic components, in compliance with electrical codes and standards

Refrigeration systems (ammonia, Freon, and/or CO₂)

Building infrastructure

Material handling equipment

Complete and document work order tasks daily in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

Conduct equipment inspections and evaluations; document findings and communicate critical updates to leadership

Support operational uptime by ensuring all systems function reliably and within design specifications

Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Monitor external contractors working on or around refrigeration systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies

Operate facility motorized lifts to access, inspect, calibrate, and maintain equipment as needed

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Minimum 2 years of mechanical experience working with motorized lifts, processing/manufacturing equipment, or a combination of experience and relevant trade school training

In automated facilities: experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems

At least 2 years of hands-on industrial, commercial and/or residential refrigeration experience (ammonia, Freon, or CO₂), or equivalent experience/training

Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical information clearly across all levels of the organization

Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities

Ability to work in cold storage environments (as low as -20°F / -29°C) or dry storage (up to 100°F / 37°C), with appropriate personal protective equipment provided

Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (23 kg); requirements may vary by facility

Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends, as needed

Comfortable working in environments with varying noise levels, including loud settings

Working at Heights certification and experience may be required at specific locations

Pay Range:$28.56 - $48.17
