Job Description

Summary

The Maintenance Tech is responsible for maintaining the snowmaking system including pumps, motors, compressors, hydrants, snow guns, hoses, and helping with summer projects. Responsible for the basic set up of the mountain for the upcoming snowmaking season to ensure the best possible skiing experience for our guests. This position reports to the Snowmaking Manager.

 

Essential Job Functions

Assist the Snowmaking Team with summer projects as needed including runoff control and pipeline, compressors, pump houses, and valve house projectsMaintenance of the pump houses and compressor buildingUse of hand tools, and power equipment to install and repair any snowmaking equipment – Various fabrication projectsOperation and Maintenance of Hydroelectric Plant, Valve Houses, and Gylcol SystemsTroubleshoot Control Systems, Automation Systems, Air and Water Guns, and Pump and MotorsAssist with all capital projects as neededResponsible for maintaining a safe work environmentOther duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or olderHigh school degree or equivalent preferredValid, current unrestricted Driver’s License requiredAbility to obtain ASC snowmobile license

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficient experience with snowmaking systemsProficient experience with ski area operationsProficient experience around heavy equipmentGeneral knowledge of basic hand toolsKnowledge of product or serviceKnowledge of company policies and proceduresFamiliarity with company rules, regulations, and operational standardsAbility to prioritize tasks and manage time effectivelyAbility to do basic problem-solvingAttention to detailAbility to work independently with minimal supervision

Supervision Given and Received
Supervision given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.  
Supervision received: Works under limited supervision of the Patrol Director. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments. 

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time   
Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces. Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance. Certain locations will require an employee to ski or snowboard.
