BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GEDMinimum 5 years of hands-on maintenance experienceThis position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S.person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with heavy equipment repair and complex hydraulic systemsFormal technical/Vocational degreeRelevant technical , vocational, or military training certificatesMust have the aptitude to troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systemsCan identify and isolate PLC, HMI, and controls issues for escalation by controls engineerAbility to problem solve rationally and be able to identify root cause of equipment failureAbility to interpret equipment schematics, hydraulic circuits, control circuits, single-line electrical drawings, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.Ability to research and identify parts via parts-fiche and assembly drawingsAbility to communicate effectively; both written and orally.Strong PC skills; ability to navigate and use CMMS, SAP ERP system, and manufacturing execution system (MES)Must be able to obtain an in-house mobile equipment certification, including use of forklift and boom liftBasic metal fabrication skills: use of power tools, cutting torch, stick welder, saws, and knee mill.Must be able to lift 50 lbs.Must be able to obtain in-house mobile equipment certification; including forklift, scissor lift and boom lift.Howmet’s Houston Extrusion Plant (77061) focuses on converting specialty metals into value added extrusions for the aerospace and defense industries. The Maintenance Technician supports production operations by inspecting, monitoring, repairing, and maintaining the operation of all production equipment and plant systems.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work Environment:
Metals processing necessitates the use of induction heaters and gas furnaces; as such, the manufacturing floor is unconditioned with few exceptions, the office areas and break areas are climate controlled.Rotating shift assignments based on production plan; starting 1st shiftMust be flexible; able to work extended hours and weekends when requiredAll tools and training provided. Training is completed on Day shift Reports directly to Maintenance Supervisor
