Overview:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and highly capable technician to support the ongoing maintenance, repair, and performance of our electric and autonomous vehicle fleet. This position requires a well-rounded individual who understands both traditional mechanical systems and the more advanced components found in modern EV and AV platforms. In this role, you’ll be responsible for identifying and resolving vehicle issues ranging from basic hardware failures to complex sensor or software-related faults. You’ll conduct routine inspections, perform system diagnostics, and carry out repairs with a strong focus on safety, precision, and operational uptime. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach to problem-solving, a solid foundation in electrical systems, and the adaptability to work with evolving vehicle technologies such as LiDAR, GPS, and real-time data integration. This is a critical position that supports daily operations and helps ensure every vehicle on the road performs reliably and safely. Success in this role requires a high level of accountability, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a genuine interest in the future of transportation.

Vehicle Servicing and Maintenance
+ Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electric and autonomous vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety
+ Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues using diagnostic tools and system logs
+ Conduct system calibrations for AV components including LiDAR, radar, GPS, and onboard sensors
+ Install and test firmware and software updates in coordination with engineering and operations teams
+ Document all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities with accuracy and clarity
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve recurring vehicle performance issues and report trends
+ Respond to real-time vehicle alerts and dispatch service as needed to address issues in the field
+ Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations when handling high-voltage systems and sensitive electronics, training can be provided.
+ Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and equipment necessary for vehicle service and repair
+ Support vehicle commissioning, decommissioning, and operational readiness procedures
+ Participate in ongoing training to stay current with evolving vehicle technologies and diagnostic methods
Required Education, Experience and Qualifications:
+ Associate’s degree in an automotive-related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
+ High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty automotive and transit equipment, with at least 5 years focused on fleet maintenance (autonomous fleet maintenance experience is a plus).
+ ASE certifications preferred (A Series, H Series, and L3). Ford Transit EV certification required; training available if not currently certified.
+ Mechanic’s tool set
+ Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
+ Experience working with electrical systems, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
+ Ability to utilize proprietary software to diagnose, calibrate, and repair vehicle components.
+ Strong analytical skills to identify issues and implement process improvements.
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
+ Broad understanding of mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
+ Must be able to pass a background check and federally regulated DOT drug screening. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
+ Clean driving record required.
+ Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.

Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
+ Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures, weather, and humidity conditions, with 100% of the job performed outside, often in remote locations.
+ Must be able to sit for extended periods (6–8 hours per day) and frequently walk long distances, including on sloped, slippery, or uneven surfaces.
+ Ability to push and pull objects as required throughout the workday and lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
+ Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, or reach for files or equipment stored at ground level.
+ Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, moderate to high noise levels, and heavy traffic areas while performing job duties.
+ Hands-on repairs of mechanical and electrical systems.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
+ Must be 21 years old;
+ Does not have more than 1 point on the driving record (California), or one non-major moving violation in the preceding three years;
+ Proficiency with a laptop computer and GSuite apps (i.e. Gmail, Hangouts, and Driver, including Sheets and Docs
+ Has not had any driver’s license suspension or revocation based on driving or operating any
vehicle under the influence of alcohol or any drug in the past 10 years;
+ Never been the at-fault driver of a motor vehicle involved in an accident that resulted in
injury or death of any person.
+ Meets driver requirements, including driving record and criminal history under applicable regulations and laws in the state(s) in which the autonomous vehicle monitor will be working;
+ All Transdev employees must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Safety Sensitive Positions will also be subject to a physical screening
+ Transdev reserves the right to perform ongoing background checks for all employees except in states where this is prohibited by state law. Transdev will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.
+ Employees must maintain an acceptable Driving Record suitable to being approved to drive as part of their regular duties. Records are monitored on an ongoing or regular basis pursuant to local state law.
+ Ability to qualify for an Autonomous Vehicle Tester (AVT) license in states and positions where it’s required
