You will operate and maintain equipment to build technical mastery and to deliver on safety, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and morale targets, understanding losses in your area and taking the appropriate action to eliminate them. You will use autonomous and progressive maintenance standards to maintain equipment and support new product development. In this role, you will ensure that safety processes are observed, and that quality assurance activities are performed. You will take an active role in shutdown maintenance, root-cause analysis, stops reductions loss analysis and breakdown elimination.

JOB SUMMARY

The Primary role of the Maintenance Technician is planning for and coordinating the site maintenance team, contracted specialists, and outside service providers to ensure the timely correction of defects and the successful execution of the site preventative maintenance program. The Technician is accountable for the effective and efficient utilization of the Maintenance team. This person ensures that the planning processes are used to achieve reliability excellence in the areas of work management, materials management, and reliability management for the assets of the site function in the manner required for normal, safe operation, in compliance with company policies, procedures, and statutory regulations. 

This position holder is responsible for providing technical and procedural guidance in planning and scheduling process of asset reliability management function, including developing and delivering specific skills training to operational and maintenance online.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Defect Correction 

Ensure effective resolution of equipment breakdown issues by allocating appropriate corrective workloads to maintenance teams and providing support in obtaining the knowledge and materials required for the corrective efforts.  

Ensure effective continuity of work between teams.  

Engage and control external support services to supplement internal maintenance capability as necessary.  

Troubleshoot plant operational defects and provide technical direction to maintainers to resolve complex problems. 

Preventative Maintenance 

Ensure the effective execution of the site Preventative Maintenance (PM) program by planning and coordinating the routine PM workload and major shutdown periods.  

Minimize the impact of PM work on the operating plant through effective coordination and control.  

Ensure the completion of statutory and externally contracted specialist maintenance programs through planning and coordination. 

Identify underperforming or inappropriate PM tasks and arrange for their revision. 

Plant Improvement 

Plan and follow up on the implementation of plant changes, including obtaining design proposals and engaging specialist contractors to execute works.  

Identify opportunities for improvement in plant reliability, performance and changeover time reduction through statistical review and root cause analysis of breakdown events.  

Assist with reviewing and refining PM tasks and schedules.  

Assist with the commissioning of capital works. 

Team Management 

Identify required manning scales and match team work allocation to available resources including the consideration of work volume and the availability of skills required.  

Organize the provision of supplementary labor as required.  

Identify maintainer training gaps and plan for the provision of formal training and work experiences to eliminate these.  

Act as primary competency assessor for the trade team in the area of specialization. 

Resource Management 

Match workload to available resources.  

Determine resource requirements for shutdown work programs.  

Specification preparation, tendering and administration of service contracts.  

Engage and manage external contractors for specialist and overflow works, including implementing measures for contractor safety and performance management.  

Ensure that spare parts are provided for major repairs and shutdown periods. 

Compliance 

Ensure that maintenance plans are prepared to meet all safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements. 

Complete statutory compliance reporting.  

Implement Risk Management Plans.  

Manage statutory inspection programs, plant registration, and registration renewal.  

Complete regulatory filings for licensed activities, e.g., electrical installation work. 

Participate in audit programs and follow up on corrective actions identified. 

Apply Integrated Lean Six Sigma in the assigned areas and be a PM pillar member. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering

Demonstrated reliability or maintenance engineering experience in food manufacturing or FMCG equipment platforms and services equipment.

Knowledge of the implementation and control of maintenance planning and scheduling  

Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance and Materials Management modules.  

Interpersonal skills in coaching, counseling, and developing employees. 

Good computer literacy, including specific experience in the use of applications, MS Office, MS Access and MS Project 

Significant troubleshooting experience in a technical environment
