Our Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Land and Air Systems (LAS) Air Operation and Weapons (AOW) business unit as a Machine Technician.
As a Machine Technician you will be providing and implementing a complete facilities engineering service to the entire Thales Site, multi-unit complex within a skilled adaptable and flexible team.
Key responsibilities and tasks:
Install, commission and maintain all manufacturing process and capital equipment including complex C.N.C machine tools, ensuring achievement of the following departmental objective:
Maximise the availability of all equipment in line with production needs and targets
Maintenance of all equipment to design standards and specifications, ensuring manufacturing accuracy is maintained
Operate, service and develop the building environmental control and energy management system in line with the following departmental objectives:
Determine efficient and economic plant control parameters, so as to maintain environmental conditions and maximise the efficient use of all energy resources.
Analyse and present system data regarding building environmental control and energy management issues.
Determine and maintain a quality assurance calibration scheme for all field equipment associated with the building environment control and energy management system
Maintain industrial capacity building environmental control plant systems
Implement and finance the portable appliance test and inspection programme
Perform all tasks necessary to ensure the company’s mobile and fixed plant is in compliance with Health and Safety legislative regulations also installations comply with the 18th edition of IEF Electrical regulations.
About You
Time served in an electrical or mechanical discipline with relevant experience in CNC machine tool and robotic systems within a high volume manufacturing environment
Educated to an NVQ level 3 in mechatronics
Be familiar with machine tool control systems and their operation
Working knowledge of an automated process plant including PLC control systems
Able to fault diagnosis mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Need to demonstrate the ability to work with minimum supervision and as part of a multi discipline
Needs to be available to work overtime and shift work
Be available to travel to our secondary site as and when required.
Having experience of electrical distribution systems including their installation is beneficial.
