About the Role

We’re looking for an Maintenance Technician to join the opening team of Caption by Hyatt Sydney. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for assisting with the smooth and efficient operation of all hotel maintenance activities, supporting both guest-facing and back-of-house areas. You’ll work closely with the Engineering Manager to carry out maintenance, safety, and preventative tasks that contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for guests and colleagues alike.

As part of the pre-opening team, you will also play a key role in preparing the hotel for opening, assisting with systems testing, contractor handovers, equipment setup, and ensuring all plant and infrastructure is guest ready.

Some of the responsibilities include:

Responding to and completing guest and associate maintenance requests with professionalism and carePerforming preventative maintenance tasks in guest rooms and throughout the hotelSupporting the operation and maintenance of building services equipment, including chillers, pumps, and HVAC systemsMonitoring life safety systems, fire panels, and responding to emergencies as requiredMaintaining the cleanliness and safety of the engineering workshop, plant rooms, and workspacesOperating assigned machinery and handling fuel deliveries in line with hotel proceduresEnsuring compliance with local safety codes, energy conservation measures, and hygiene standardsParticipating in daily briefings and contributing to a positive, team-first environmentSupporting the hotel’s Work Health and Safety policies by identifying and reporting hazards, and fulfilling the role of Area Warden when neededProviding a courteous, professional, and solutions-focused experience to internal and external stakeholders
