 Maintenance Technical Trainer

 

Opportunity summary: As a maintenance trainer, you will learn to be responsible for learning all aspects of maintenance around converting or corrugating equipment.  You will leverage L&D and OPS resources to train our union team members and document results. We are always responsible for our maintenance team's safety, quality, and performance.  You will identify opportunities within the department to improve performance and execution; you will manage training around preventative maintenance and repair efforts for our hourly team with the goal to improve equipment up time. This is an hourly, nonunion role. 

 

You will impact Smurfit Westrock by directing and training the hourly maintenance techs.  Your development will include learning to: 

Assess technical talent on the team, make recommendations about where to put training resources to improve equipment uptime Leverage our L&D team to help develop plans for hourly techs to get to the next level, using internal and external resources Follow L&D guidelines to train hourly techs on specific maintenance tasks and document the resultsAssist, when necessary, with daily work orders, preventative maintenance and emergency repairsHelp hire a best-in-class maintenance teamBecome a JDE subject matter expertManage technician performance and downtime of machines by troubleshooting and preventing issues that could cause downtime or breaks and resolving issues in timely fashion, and coaching them to complete repairs themselvesWork to coach our team to ensure equipment downtime is fully utilized and scheduled to optimize the maintenance work that can be performed while the machine is downAssist with accident/incident investigation for any incidents that occur in the departmentSet an example by utilizing and helping to enforce the Maintenance Department’s Standard Operating Procedures Establish and follow up on individual goals and evaluate work performance for direct reportsDevelop effective partnerships with plant hourly employees to improve overall plant production to help them troubleshoot equipmentAssist with the review and updating of department training material

 

What you need to succeed: 

High School diploma or G.E.D.5-10 years of industrial maintenance experienceProven supervisory track recordDemonstrated leadership abilityA high regard for safetyStrong communication, and interpersonal skills leveraged to motivate stakeholders and achieve alignment across the organizationAbility to learn proprietary software programs Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by state or federal law. The salary range for this position is $52,875.00 - $88,125.00, depending on your role, level, and location. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience, and education.
